Chapter 57

Payu was about to leave the apartment complex. At first he was mad at Rain for acting like that, but then his sorry face kept reappearing in his mind and Payu eventually decided to go back to Rain and fix everything, knowing that Rain was probably just scared of his reaction when he pretended he hadn't read the message instead of acting like that on purpose. He went back upstairs and found Rain on the couch, his head pointing down and his eyes looking at his hands.

"Rain... I know you didn't read that on purpose... but I want to tell you that I will meet Ple" Payu said as he came close enough. At first Rain felt relieved, but then a new rush of stress coursed through him at the thought of Payu hanging out with Ple.

"Why? Why do you have to meet her?" Rain asked disappointed.

"I know that she talked about Som just to force me to meet her, but I prefer to trust her now rather than feeling guilty for ignoring Som in a moment of need. I promise that I will leave as soon as it becomes obvious that she is just telling lies again" Payu responded.

"You can promise as much as you want... this doesn't change the fact I don't trust her..." Rain replied bitterly, even fearing that she could craft some new fake evidence just like he did with her own brother.

"I knew that you would have said that, that's why I want you to come with me" Payu offered.

"Wait, really?"

"Yes, if Som really needs help, I don't see why Ple wouldn't say it even if you're there with me" Payu explained, he sat down next to Rain and hugged him tightly.

Rain watched as Payu texted Ple about their meeting, although Payu omitted Rain's presence on purpose, so that they could see Ple's honest reaction. They quickly received an answer and after an hour Ple was waiting for Payu in front of a café. As Payu's car approached her, they noticed that Ple looked very preoccupied. She looked at the car, trying to distinguish Payu's face through the glass, then her expression changed a little bit as she realized that Rain was there too.

The two guys got off the car, Rain glared at her while Payu was polite as usual, even though he looked quite cold compared to the other times they met each other. Ple remained at a certain distance, noticing how Rain was analyzing her movements.

"Payu, I'm so happy that you agreed, I'm sorry that..."

"Ple, I don't want to hear your apology, no matter how sincere it can be. You said something about Som, what's wrong?" Payu interrupted her.

"Som is so lucky to have someone like you still caring about him despite..." Ple continued.

"Yeah, surely luckier than having a terrible sister like you, now go straight to the point" Rain intervened.
