"Elsa Engstorm, I should've known you'd come running for the Hyrbid and make such a dramatic entrance."

Arik's voice taunted her, but he said it so calmly and pleased that it bothered her. Her fists clenched and unclenched in those few seconds of him speaking up. Her eyes only meeting his hungry and powerful gaze once.

She didn't have time to be engaging in verbal sword fights with Arik.

Mason had had his gun ready at the aim, holding it closely to his chest. His fingers rested gently, a few inches away from the trigger. One wrong move and he would fire at any of Arik's guards.

Arik would never be a redoubtable form to either of them. His evil deeds and inventions were so awful and horrible. He was a twisted villain, who never cared for anyone's pain. How could any relict or serve him like he was the kindest soul ever made?

"I came here not just for him. I came here for Ava."

"Of course, the traitor. Much like you've become to your own people."

"Seriously?!?" Elsa questioned, "You're pathetic for terming us that way. There could be much more worse titles to call us other than the word traitor. Shouldn't you have an extensive vocabulary?"

"Your new title as a 'Renegade' means a deserter. But I guess sit makes sense with how many laws you evaded to keep peace amongst species...." He broke off, smile afresh.

Elsa rolled her eyes, knowing why she hated people talking smart-alecky. Arik had used that tone of his voice so many countless times on her. Plus, the angry and demanding tone that once frightened her.

Amid the growing smoke and drifting ashes that wafted the air, Arik was trying to concoct an evil plan. Some way of persuasion. All Elsa was doing was trying to tame her heart's chaotic thumping of rage and determination.

"You know as well as I do that you can't defeat me," Arik told her, "You're friend's could die in seconds if I wanted them to-"

"And yet, you don't," Elsa interrupted him, "Anya's already takin* away some of your soldiers. They're gone with her now. It doesn't matter what threats you say to my face, you can't tell me to back down. We both know that you've lost the chance at battling my team with weapons raised."

She didn't even know at this point how her team was doing in the opposite corridors. Maybe they were getting bloodied and bruised, but they'd still get up and fight. They couldn't be devastatingly losing to Arik.

She believed that.

"All of this never would have happened if you didn't leave me."

Elsa held back from cackling like a hyena, "All of this never would have happened if I never made a deal with you."

She thought his stupidity made her feel more in control, but his voice still corrupted her. Memories of her pain, her beatings, and her torturing's came back to her mind. Anger began to pump a hot, steaming sensation around her fingertips.
