"Dad! You won't believe what happened when I was in that prison cell!"

Christopher Pike had heard everything from Callius and Ava about what disaster had occurred. The ordeal with Arik and the fact Ava had risked her secret by trying to save Kit. The U.S.S. Curie and Renegades had faced that man's evil again. The Klingon war had been the last time Arik had been on the radar.

The car ride home had been mostly Ava and him discussing holding back on any further missions they'd like to bring them on. Kit would pipe up and ask a few dozen questions about Recreations or how ventilation systems worked. Brystal had found joy in settling back into reading her book.

However, something was on that six years old mind.

The Pike house was filled with the sense of a picture perfect family lived there. The amount of pictures each member had, the smell of growing plants, and the selection of dozens of books. A few occasional cards games lay on the floor from game nights.

"What?"

"The whole ventilation system seal in my room was loose! That's how I decided to escape!"

"And how did you do that?" Christopher gave Kit a smile, he enjoyed to hear Kit's side of the story. Even when he was busy getting dinner ready.

He was just glad overall that Kit wasn't injured or on-the-mend. Ava had received some cuts, but her body had already healed any trace of injuries. Brystal was the only one who had come unscathed.

"You see... Arik thought that a chair, blanket, and mattress would not help anyone escape right?"

"Right," Christophe nodded as he continued to chop up peppers while listening to Kit. He also was careful to make sure that Kit din't fall off the bar stool seat.

"Well, what happens when a screw comes loose and throwing, perfectly aimed at the security camera that it turns off. Then, using the glass of that one to cut off the wires of the second security camera. Lastly, using the chair to reach the vent, of course with a jump-"

"Yes......

...that's my smart little guy!!"

Christopher ruffled the his hand in Kit's curly locks, earning a giggle from his son, "Dad!"

Christopher's head thrown back in laughter for a few seconds before spotting Ava come back into the room.

She carefully placed the packets of spices she retrieved from the cupboards in the pantry. She paused looking a round very quickly.

"What? Something wrong?"

"Brystal wasn't in her room-"

"Cherry blossom tree," Kit and Christopher immediately answered.
