chapter twenty - fade into you

Lucy Caddel

On the drive home, I could only stare at the writing on my hand. Harry learn and remembered Jupiter and Venus in Hebrew and wrote it on my hand. It was sweet, what he did. We pulled up back at Zayn's and Niall instantly got out of the car, carrying his food inside so he could eat it.

"I've gotta go into town to run a couple of errands so..." Harry leaned over to look at me from the front seat.

"Would I be able to come with you?" I asked, I had no plans for the rest of the day.

"Uh." He hesitated.

"Please? Niall's gonna make me play monopoly for another two hours again." I said desperately.

"Okay, okay. I'll save you from that. I know how competitive Niall can be." Harry laughed as I got out of the backseat and into the front passenger side. We drove back into town. I had no idea where we were going so I thought I'd just wait and see but the suspense was making me impatient. It felt like we were driving forever before we pulled into the curb in front of a large building. The streets were busy with cars and people so I was surprised we found a park this easily.

"I've just gotta drop this paperwork off, I'll only be a couple minutes so you can stay in the car if you'd like?" He undid his seatbelt and lifted a plastic sheet of paper.

"Yeah, I should be fine." I nodded.

"Alright, I'll leave you the keys in case." He smiled and got out of the car. He went inside and that's when I realized he dropped a sheet on the floor of the car. It had a bunch of writing and signatures so it must be important. I picked it up and got out of the car, locking it behind me and running to the building's front door to try and catch him.

The tinted doors slide open and I'm met with a reception that's bright and clean. I scan the room for Harry but there's no sight of him. You'd think he'd stand out against the glaring white walls in his black uniform but he had completely vanished.

"Hi, can I help you?" A lady at the desk calls out to me.

"Oh yes uh," I walk over to her. "My friend dropped something he might've needed and I'm just trying to find where he went so I can give it to him."

"Do you know who he's visiting? I'll see what room he's going to for you." She begins typing onto her computer.

"Who he's visiting?" I repeat not understanding.

"Oh, is he not visiting someone?" She asked.

"I- I don't know what he's here for." I stuttered.

"There's not a lot I can help you with then." The lady spun around in her chair.

"Wait, which way did the uh tall brunette in a black uniform go?" I stopped her before she walked off.

"He went down the hallway to the right." She said impatiently, I don't get why she was being so passive. I wandered down the quiet hallway. The reception only had about two people in it who were sitting down reading newspapers on the lounges. The silence was nerve-racking.

I passed many doors, all of them closed. I had no plan but I'd just hoped Harry would pop out of one.

"Lucy!" I heard a whispering snap at me. I jump and turn around to Harry, he looks concerned. "What are you doing in here?"
