Given the length of their journey, the party went to the nearest tavern to eat & sleep.
Sitting at the table after paying (presumably), Q'inde broke the silence.
"Sarana's mother star is dying. Unknown dark magiks have been draining the sun's light for millenia."
"We're running out of time," Maxim muttered.
Siobhan sighed, her fingertips tracing the intricate contours of her bangle. "Nights last longer. Soon the world will be in an eternal dusk. Life & light magics will lose strength, allowing shadow magiks to rule."
Their words brought to mind a lullaby Aurelia had heard as a child from her gran.
'Rest now my dear one, recall the light of the sun.
While though it grows dimmer, my love does not.'Unknowingly, she silently mouthed the final words - just as her eye met a stranger's.
They stood in the back of the tavern near the stairs, arms crossed and brazenly staring. Their shapely lips quirked in a grin as she noticed. Their long, night black hair fell over one eye as they turned to head upstairs.
"Ray."
Her attention snapped back to the others. "Hm?"
Alexan looked at them with concern. "You okay?"
She swallowed and nodded quickly. "Yeah. It's just a lot to take in. So much fear and uncertainty for everyone."
Their best friend's expression remained drawn. "Yeah. We could all use some rest."
