"How can I be a faery?!" Aurelia was spinning around trying to get a better look at the huge wings that had just sprouted from her, offended, confused, and awestruck by their presence.

"Calm down, dep'la. You said your gran had a connection to Sarana." Aldebaran stopped her manic pacing with a firm but gentle hold on her arms. "Allow me to help find answers. Everything is fine, I promise."

She gasped in surprise, then blushed as they gently petted her hair to help calm her down.

They searched tomes and scrolls for days. The ancient collection had a decent amount of literature on elemental fae, including sun fae.

As they sat together in the library pouring over books, Aldebaran suddenly asked, "Do you like them?"

"Hm?"

"They don't restrict you much, do they?"

She shrugged. "I guess not."

"Do you want to keep them?"

Their amused gaze held her, watching her thoughts play out on her face. They chuckled and gently touched her chin. "Your eyes are so much brighter green than before. So pretty~"

"I guess there's no reason for me not to keep them..."

"Wonderful! Want to learn how to use them?"

She gasped as they casually sprouted dark, ice like wings, raising a challenging brow to her. "Fly... right now??"

Aldebaran grabbed her hands and pulled her to her feet. "No better time! I'll help teach you. Don't worry, I'll never let you fall, Aura."

And so she learned to fly through the cathedral like halls of the piecework palace, relishing the sensation.

One day, a strange power penetrated the shadow-palace. She dropped the scroll she was holding as a dark elf strained to convey a message through a whisper thin mirage. Aldebaran tensed and snarled beside her.

"Magic thief. Ancient legends speak of you. Help us. The Ghoul of the Forests is attacking. Her power is too great. Velaan & Devos will fall. Please, you are our only hope."
