After the ball announcement, when Aurelia returned to her quarters she was visited by two kings.
King Kaidan was first. "I found a gown that you may be interested in for the ball~"
She pulled the gold fabric from the box and gasped. "It's beautiful! Look at this mask!"
As she admired the ribbons and lace adorning the mask, a knock came at the door.
"Oh! King Baltazar!" She curtsied hastily, embarrassed to have been seen in her changing clothes by not just one, but two kings.
He smiled, smirking at the slight blush in her cheeks, as he offered a black box. "Moon silk~ I want you to wear this and dance the first song with me."
She set the mask down and ran her fingertips over the black fabric so smooth it flowed like water in the box. "It is beautiful, my liege."
He kissed her cheek before leaving, ignoring Kaidan's presence entirely. The white-haired elf king sighed and laughed ruefully.
Stepping closer, he leaned in to kiss her other cheek. "He'll get himself in a snit if you don't wear this. It will suit you beautifully. However," he picked up the mask from the bed and held it up to her left eye, "I chose this fabric because its shade compliments the gold in your hair perfectly. It is a masquerade after all."
He left with a wink, leaving her clutching priceless silk and gleaming gold to her chest, blushing madly.
