The Blue Moon ball continued late into the night. In the grand ballroom of Velaan palace, the orchestra played Scarborough Fair by Paul Cardall~ ;) A romantic and mystical air permeated the mood.
Alexan snuck off to find Veronica, asking her to dance.
"But I'm working! I mustn't," she hushed urgently, her shoulders jumping slightly as the human carded their fingers through her thick red hair, for once let down in elegant waves to complement her formal maid uniform.
"Does it look like I care? Or that Kaidan cares?"
The Elf King's eyes did not leave Aurelia as she danced with Lady Liryn.
Her blush not fully hidden beneath her mask, Veronica agreed at last.
Meanwhile, Aurelia finally stepped off the dance floor to catch her breath, hiding behind a grand pillar.
She gasped as a familiar voice whispered in her ear.
"May I have this dance?"
She looked back with a slack jaw at the sight of the night-skinned magic thief standing before her, decked in otherworldly finery. "Oh! Aldebaran? You're in the real world?"
"Haha where do you think I am when not dreaming? Come now."
As they danced, the Velaanian courtiers whispered in curiosity. But so too did the dark elf king glare in envy.
"Hmph. You don't really like that fraud, do you?" they whispered in her ear.
"King Baltazar? A fraud you said? How so?"
"Fire magic is not natural to Dark Elves. He is a magic thief too. The circlet upon his brow, the ear cuffs, all those rings - he stole those fire relics to augment his power in a way his closest enemies cannot counteract."
