Drahkelaan. Kingdom of outcasts: dragons with a human form.
Rejected by humans & dragons, they claimed a land in Exilaan - Land of Exiles.
Maxim guarded them as they hurried along hidden tunnels and animal paths. Their final destination: a cave at the top of a thin, spirelike mountain peak.
The very air of Exilaan felt oppressive with danger, telling all that they are unwelcome. And so the travellers stayed behind Maxim as he called out at the mouth of the cave.
"Drahke Yukina? We wish to ask you about a magic jewel."
The words had hardly left his mouth when freezing mountain wind began to whip around. A woman's voice echoed threateningly from the dim shadows. "How dare a bounty hunter call me? You cavort with monsters of the city over your own kind, yet have the gall to come to me for a favour?"
He pulled something from his pocket and tossed it to her. Stepping out into the light, she held up the object - a gleaming pearl. They were close enough to see her slit pupils dilate, her blue wings expand slightly.
Her fangs showed in a smile. "Show me the jewel."
Alexan stepped forward, though Aurelia could see the tension behind their affected nonchalance. The white-haired drahke leaned in close to her neck, sniffing curiously before looking at the teal amulet.
She raised a clawed hand, and magic swirled. Spell circles materialised in the air, glowing in shifting hues as she worked until a single formula remained.
They all held their breath as she stared at it unmoving. Her pale blue eyes scanned the circles and symbols over and over, just as Siobhan had. And, like the witch, her voice was quiet as she gave her appraisal.
"These runes... are the most ancient of all. They were used to create magic itself."
