That afternoon, Aurelia found the observatory, as promised. With the telescope hatch closed, even the sconces failed to illuminate the place well. Despite it being midday, it nearly felt like night.

King Baltazar smiled and ushered her in. Draping an arm across her shoulders, he led her through the desks, scientific instruments, and extraordinary celestial sculptures to a partition wall.

"Good, you are here. Now, put these on for the afternoon. Moon silk will suit you well~"

She looked at the pile of expensive fabric laid out for her on the bench and nodded. "Alright..."

Soon she emerged, decked in black & etherial green. His gold eyes glittered nearly as much as the gold accessories he held in his arms, which he started adding to her. Gloves, earrings, a body chain, a barrette.

As he fastened it in her hair, he whispered, "You glow even brighter in darkness~"

Gently moving her to stand by of a gleaming moon sculpture, he used magic to create a shadowy black halo crown. In the distorted reflection, she could get a sense for its shape.

"The brightest star of all~ As you could be in my kingdom. With me."

She let out a shaky sigh, overwhelmed by his attention - and the implications of his words. Clearing her throat, she asked, "...How do plants grow in Devos?"

Unexpectedly, he smiled in response to her question. "I can show you. Liryn has a collection of plants from the dark elves' territory in the archive. You and your green thumb will love them."
