Sometimes, we think we know everything and with whatever knowledge that we have, we live our lives the way it is because we don't know any better. Maybe, it is because we have become so comfortable and accustomed to it that we don't care to improve or find ways to make it better. Sometimes, I guess we just don't know any better. There are only so many ways we can try to improve ways to living our lives but at the end of the day, it all depends on whether we choose to make that change.......or not.........
Victor and I got up early the next morning. We had one of the most relaxing sleeps we've ever had in a long while. I guess the trip and all the emotional ups and downs we've been going through had finally taken a toll on us. We were barely awake by the time we got me out of my kimono the night before. I just could not make sense on how to get it all off.
Victor: (looking at Melanie and whispering) Hey.....rise and shine...... (caressing Melanie's face) It's time to get up, Sleeping Beauty.......
MJ: (opens her eyes) Hey you (smiles).......What time is it?
Victor: I have no idea...... but.......your maids are waiting at the door outside.........
MJ: They are? How am I gonna.......what am I gonna wear? I don't have any clothes with me......
Victor: Take this. (wraps a blanket around Melanie)
MJ: Aren't you gonna get ready too? Where are your maids? Butlers...... Erm......
Victor: Don't worry about me. I'll see you later. (kisses Melanie) Have fun!
Victor thinks I'm going to a spa. I do feel as though I am being taken care of but this wasn't exactly a vacation. It definitely wasn't a spa session. I was taken to get a hot bath. As I was sitting in the hot tub, there was a girl assigned to me to help me bathe.
MJ: Kon'nichiwa. Watashi wa Melanie Jayne. Anata no namae wa nanidesu ka?
Girl: Kon'nichiwa, meranī jein. Watashi wa Ayakadesu.........
MJ: Ayaka? That's a pretty name.......
Ayaka: Arigatō. It was my grandmother's name.
MJ: I'm uh..... I'm still not used to all this...... It's a bit.....strange.......to be taken care of and pampered this way.......I am so used to doing everything myself........
Ayaka: I understand. Please, let me know if I am making you feel uncomfortable in any way. I can try to not make it......erm......difficult for you........
MJ: I'm ok with this. (smiles) So uh.....how long have you been working here.....erm.....for the Yamamoto family?
Ayaka: My grandmother used to work here. My mother too. She used to take care of your mother, Melanie Jayne.......Now, I am here. Taking care of you.........
MJ: Your mother used to work with my mom? Where is she now?
Ayaka: She has retired. She is at home now. Resting........
MJ: I'd like to meet her some day........
Ayaka: She would be more than delighted to meet you, Melanie Jayne.
Ayaka got me ready. She even taught me how to get into my kimono. It was very strange to be walking in such an attire. My steps were more restricted than I am used to. I was also wearing socks in the house. It was all very new to me. I was escorted to the dining area to meet up with Victor and the rest of the family for breakfast.
I sat down at my seat on the floor and waited. I looked up and saw Victor walking towards me. I was so surprised to see him wearing a kimono that I just couldn't help but stare at him. He looked so different but still looked like the Victor I knew. Victor sat down beside me and kissed me.
