MJA : Time Is Not Enough

Lorenzo was never a violent person. He was always so welcoming and warm. When he crossed paths with Collins, he was devastated. He wanted to talk it all out with Collins. He never wanted to rage war with anyone. He was willing to back down from the business agreement when Collins threatened him that his family will be hunted down. He was terrified for the safety of his wife and unborn baby. He was willing to do anything to protect them. 

Lord Roberts felt that giving in to Collins was just a waste of time because Lorenzo was really good at what he was doing. They were in the middle of planning a different way to stay in business together as business partners when Collins decided to strike aggressively. Lord Roberts had his security team work with Lorenzo's security team to keep the family safe. On the night of the attack, Lorenzo had no choice but to flee to safety. Kana was heavily pregnant at the time and she was in no condition to be physically moving around.

Lorenzo lost his wife that night but he was gifted a beautiful baby daughter. He held her only for a few minutes. She reminded him so much of his beloved wife that he could not bring himself to keep her in his arms. He was devastated beyond words. He was at Kana's grave for weeks on end. He could not bring himself to eat or leave. He stayed there as though he was waiting for her to come back. Jean was the one who took care of his baby daughter throughout the entire time he was  grieving. Lorenzo was at a lost and he could not bring himself to think. 

Melanie Jayne was the name Jean had chosen for the baby. She had dark hair and blue eyes. He took care of her for several weeks. He fed her. He cleaned her. He changed her. When the time came, Lord Roberts took Melanie Jayne into his custody as her sole guardian. They had to plan for Lorenzo's disappearance and the future and safety of Melanie Jayne. Jean made a promise to himself and Lorenzo that he will find a way to take care of Melanie Jayne, no matter what happens. When Melanie Jayne turned 6, she was brought back to him. 

Lord Roberts was busy and Lorenzo had to stay invisible to the public eye. There was no way he could be reunited with Melanie Jayne at this point. Her last name 'Anderson' was picked at random and it had stuck with her throughout her life. Jean kept his promise and took care of Melanie Jayne like she was his own daughter.  He would attend her school events and meetings because he was her guardian. Lord Roberts was never too busy. He just wasn't her guardian anymore. Jean also made it a point to keep in touch with Lorenzo because he believes that this was the only way he could ever know his own daughter. Lorenzo was forever thankful to Jean for this because he would have completely lost touch with his one and only heir otherwise.

Melanie Jayne was still unconscious. She is resting in the medical bay in a separate room with medical equipments monitoring her vitals. Victor had been sleeping alone in their bedroom. Sometimes, he isn't able to sleep at all so he would walk over to the nursery to look at the baby when everyone else is asleep. One night, he found Lorenzo in the nursery, holding on to the baby.

Victor: (walks up to Lorenzo who was holding the baby) I wasn't aware that you were still up.......

Lorenzo: Forgive me, Mr. Keel. I just couldn't sleep. 

Victor: You don't have to apologize. You are her grandfather. (smiles)

Lorenzo: You could not sleep as well or do you always come here at this hour?

Victor sits down on a chair across from Lorenzo.

Victor: It's......hard to fall asleep alone.....the bed seems......a little too big......

Lorenzo: She had many sleepless nights when you were away. I spent so much time keeping her company just so that she wouldn't cry so much. She was so terrified and she was......
