MJA : Time Is Not Enough

Different Worlds

I took some time off from meetings with Theo, Sebastian and Jean because we were already going into testing soon and with my pregnancy making me feel uneasy ever so often, I thought I should take a few days off before proceeding. Jean and Theo did find a private property big enough for the experiments to take place without actually jeopardizing the public. Before initiating any form of confirmation, I wanted to take a look at the property first.

One morning after breakfast, I sat down with Nicole in the lounge area for a chat because we've been so busy that we haven't had time to catch up.

Nicole: How's your "team" working out for you? Zeus and Hades behaving themselves?

MJ: (laughs) You mean Theo and Sebastian? Yeah.....well.....ya know....boys will be boys.....

Nicole: And we are surrounded by them! (laughs) By the way.......I hope you know that Victor needs to prepare himself........

MJ: Prepare himself? What for?

Nicole: Meetings. We will be meeting clients. New and old. I am assuming that when you start going into your postpartum confinement stage, he's gotta stand in for you. We gotta show him the ropes......Who's who and all.......

MJ: That makes the both of us, him and I.

Nicole: Yeah well.......I know what working with you is like but I don't know what he's like having to go out there without a script.

MJ: He can do it. I know he can.

Just as I said that, Victor joins us in the lounge with Leo.

Victor: (interrupting) What is it that I can do, honey? (kisses Melanie)

Nicole: Meetings.

Victor: Oh.......If Melanie Jayne says I can.......

Nicole: You are aware that your wife might not be with you during these meetings........

Victor: What? (looks at Melanie) Why? (realizes Melanie is more than halfway into the pregnancy) Oh.....The baby......

MJ: You'll be fine. (smiles) It's just an on-the-job-training.

Victor seemed a bit hesitant about the idea of having to attend meetings without me because these meetings will take place anywhere in the world so he may have to travel and be far away from me several days at a time. Nicole carried on briefing us about the list of clients and what will happen during these meetings. Victor had a lot of questions and we were making progress in understanding the business better together.

After a few hours of discussion, we decided to take a break and headed into the bedroom before preparing for lunch with the family.

MJ: (sitting beside Victor on the bed) I know it's a lot to take in.......

Victor: (smiles) It is. I've never done anything like this.

MJ: You're gonna do great. I just know it. (caressing Victor's face)

Victor: I just erm.....I just want you to be there with me. (sighs) I know, it's not always going to be possible.......I just......(looks at Melanie) I don't wanna miss you giving birth. 

MJ: You won't. We'll be seeing the gynae tomorrow and we can roughly estimate......

Victor: I don't want you to go into an emergency alone......I can't let you go in there alone.....

MJ: Hey........(hugging Victor) It's gonna be fine. I'm gonna be staying indoors anyway. Victor.....(caressing Victor's face) Look at me......It's gonna be ok. (smiles)
