So.
What a bland word. It was empty, and short, and emotionless.
Yet it could bring so much emotion. It was a question, and an explanation.
It was awkward, and stiff, but one could bend it to their will far too easily.
It was the tactless person pointing out the elephant skulking around in the room.
The elephant that was taking a shit in mother's best china teapot.
Savannah decided that she didn't like the word so. In fact, she hated it. Savannah decided this the moment it had come out of Nathan's mouth.
'So...' he'd said, and both Loki and Savannah were glaring at him. 'Didn't you try to take over Earth?'
Savannah really, really hated that word now.
'I doubt it,' Loki had said. 'I rarely fail in conquests.'
'He's right. He's better at cooking than me, better at long jumps, pole vaulting, staring competitions, any kind of gymnastics, and even pole dancing.'
'Pole dancing?' Nathan looked positively scandalised.
'Yep. He's amazingly flexible.'
Savannah noticed, with some relief, that some of the tension in Loki's shoulders had dissipated. There was still tension, though, and she frowned.
Maybe she should get out of Nathan's lap. Loki was bloody protective, and her sitting on a roof ledge, crying into someone's arms must be aggravating him.
She gently climbed off of Nathan, and walked over to Loki.
'How comes you're here, anyway? I thought you were off blowing things up?'
Nathan winced, Loki smirked, and Savannah felt satisfyingly vindictive.
'Sav, I know you're still upset about me joining the army, and leaving you when things got rough, but that was just mean.'
'Life's a bitch.' Savannah and Loki both said it in unison.
Then they descended into jinxes, which Loki beat her at.
Competitive wanker.
How did he even know about jinx?
