Savannah awoke to the sound of crying.
She preferred laughter.
Someone, over in the corner, had their face in their hands, and was crying softly. She couldn't see them, but if she turned her head just a little bit-
Loki.
Loki was crying.
'Loki?' she asked.
'Savannah, are you awake?' Loki looked up, wiped his eyes and walked over to her bed. He took her hand, and rubbed it soothingly. His eyes were red, she realised, and not the Jotunn red, but the red eyes of someone who had been crying for hours.
'Loki?' she repeated.
'Are you alright? Did you have a bad dream?'
'Yes, I'm fine. I just wanted to say sorry.'
'For what?'
'Saying those things, I didn't mean them, and I don't know what came over me.'
'Your mind was poisoned when you were stabbed.'
'Oh.'
Loki smiled.
'Am I permitted to tell you what happened?'
'Yeah. But first, can I have my cat back?'
'No.'
'Meanie.'
Loki told her everything, but Savannah still had three questions. She would only voice two of them today.
'Loki?'
'Yes, pet?'
'Why were you crying?'
Loki sighed.
'I had hoped you would not notice. To be honest, I'd rather not say.'
'Can I have a cuddle?'
'You can always have a cuddle.'
