Alexander's P.O.V

The things that happened the night before were lying heavy on my mind. I decided to tell Cain everything when he woke up. I hadn't expected Maverick to show up and disturb our sleep and my plans. Maverick banged on the treehouse's door and yelled, "Come out, you two!" Cain looked at me in a daze and asked, "What's his problem?" I sighed and replied, "Who knows?" I got dressed and opened the door. Maverick growled and asked, "How long are you going to keep this up, Alex?" Cain yawned and uttered, "Leave him alone, Maverick. He's not fooling me. I don't understand why you don't trust him?"

Maverick pushed me aside and stated, "I need to talk to my brother. Leave." I huffed and declared, "I haven't done anything to deserve your wrath, Maverick. Why don't you treat me kindly?" Maverick pushed me down and growled, "Guess what I found out just now? Want me to tell Cain about it in front of you so he can kill you?" Cain helped me stand and uttered, "I'm tired of your yelling. You better have something useful to share with me." Maverick glared at me and said, "My informant called me last night. He discovered that your mate was involved in a murder a few years back. And guess who he killed? Brandon, your childhood best friend."

Cain looked at me in shock. He ran his fingers through his hair and asked, "Is what my brother said true, Alex?" My uncle's curse was in effect. I had to be careful, or I would lose Cain. It was time to act pitifully. I grabbed Cain's hand and replied, "No, he slipped and fell from a rock. Brandon and I were playing by the lake before we separated. He was my neighbor, remember? It's all written in the police report. Maverick should have investigated the matter further before creating a scene." Maverick glared at me and yelled, "We all know that's a lie. His heart was missing!"

Cain rubbed his face and stated, "Go home, Alex. We will talk later." I sighed while looking at Maverick. I had forgotten about Brandon. The incident happened when we were twelve. I had already left the scene when they discovered Brandon's body. He was alive when I left. I don't know what happened after that. I had lost my chance to discuss things with Cain. He was in a terrible mood now. I kissed Cain's cheek and uttered, "Okay. Don't forget to call me and stay away from the omega from the supermarket." Cain looked puzzled at me and asked, "You mean Aidan? What's he got to do with anything?"

A cold shiver ran down my spine when I realized that Cain and the omega were on a first-name basis. I gazed at Maverick and replied, "I'll tell you later. Please, do as I say." I left when Maverick huffed and pointed at the door. I drove straight home. My parents were fortunately awake. I knocked on their door and walked into the room. My father groaned and asked, "What's the matter with you, Alexander? Why can't you wait till we're awake?" I glared at my father and asked, "When did you guys realize Cain was my mate?" My mother sat up and replied, "We didn't know at first. Your uncle pointed it out to us." I laughed and uttered, "And you two still let him mess with my life? Have you forgotten I need my mate to survive?"

My father tried to calm me down by casting a spell on me. I broke the spell and said, "You want me to become the head enforcer, right, Dad? I have been hiding my powers for two long. I will destroy everything and everyone if Cain leaves me. I promise you that." My mother jumped off the bed and hugged me. I pushed my mother away, then said, "I'm disappointed in you both, Mom. So stay away from me." My mother hugged me and said, "You can't deny your destiny, Alex. The consequences will be too great for you to bear." I hadn't realized I had been crying. I groaned and stated, "Where is it written that I can't fulfill my destiny with my mate by my side, Mom?" My father stroked my head and replied, "Cain has his duties to fulfill. You two won't last long if you force a bond now. It would be different if Cain fought to be with you, though." Images of my future together with Cain started flashing through my mind suddenly.

My body began to tremble with fear when I saw myself crying with my children's dead bodies in my arms. I had learned not to believe everything. I tried to predict my future again. It had the same outcome. I tried to see how things would work out if Cain pursued me. We had a peaceful life together. I was now even more determined to keep Cain by my side. Who cares if we were supposed to get together later in life? I thought. I walked out of my parent's room and dialed Cain's number. I bit my nails while waiting for him to answer his phone. I got agitated when I couldn't contact Cain. I used my powers to visit our race's library. I tried to find a way to avoid disaster. I lost my mind when I couldn't find a solution. The books were worthless.

I growled when my uncle appeared in front of me. My uncle grabbed a book and said, "Don't force it, Alex. You will soon realize what Cain's role is in this world." I conjured my sword and pointed at my uncle. My uncle chuckled and uttered, "Cain will surely believe you were his best friend's killer if he sees you in this form." I scowled and replied, "Cain's not stupid. He won't believe those lies?" I laughed when an image of Cain as the country's president flashed in my mind. I thought my uncle was joking. My uncle grabbed my hand and stated, "It's the truth, Alex. It's his destiny. Many people will die if he doesn't become the leader of this country."

I shook my head and said, "Then I'll be by his side to guide him. Now, disappear. I don't want to see your face." I returned home after my uncle left. It was already late, and I hadn't heard anything from Cain. I decided to call him again. It went straight to voicemail. I drove to the Barrett's mansion in the hope of seeing Cain. The guards wouldn't let me through. I knew the area well. I used a spell to distract the guards. I sighed in relief when I reached the garden. My heart shattered when I saw Cain chatting with none other than the omega. I couldn't control myself. I grabbed Cain's shoulder and asked, "What is he doing here? Didn't I ask you to stay away from him?"

Cain looked at me in shock. He asked the omega to leave, then replied, "Aidan came here to deliver beverages for the party. I couldn't ignore him when he called out to me." I put my head down and uttered, "You ignored me when I tried to talk to you." Cain frowned and asked, "What?" I grabbed Cain's hand and answered, "Nothing, it's in the past. I need to talk to you. Let's leave." Cain groaned when his mother called out to him. Cain smiled at me and said, "Go wait in your car. I'll be there soon."

I waited for Cain till midnight. He texted me later that he couldn't break free from his mother's clutches. His mother had made him try out clothes the whole night. I sighed while looking at the sky. I hadn't eaten anything and was feeling miserable. I hadn't received an invitation yet either. I devised a plan to break into the party. Cain would be mine no matter what.

Hi guys, have a great weekend.
