"Satoru." I whispered, knocking on his door, "Satoruuu~~!"
There was a soft thud and then his footsteps followed by another thud on the door. A single quiet grunt later and he opened the door, his face still pressed against it. He opened one eye just a crack and stared at me, looking absolutely exhausted. Pushing the door more open I slipped into his room, stifling my laughter.
Closing the door behind me he wearily blinked and continued to stare.
"Happy birthday!" I whispered with a broad grin, holding out his birthday present.
"Birthday?" He yawned and looked at the clock. It was two in the morning on December seventh. He lazily scratched his chest a moment and blinked again, "My birthday?"
I nodded excitedly, setting the relatively big box on his bed and gesturing at it cartoonishly.
"I got you something amaaaa~zing!" I sang, "Something you waaa~nted!"
With another big yawn he walked over, smiling a little, "Yeah? You couldn't wait until later though, huh? It's Monday…"
"Trust me on this." I nodded, hopping up to sit on the edge of his bed, "I just got back with it so I couldn't wait." I pulled off my scarf and jacket, impatiently kicking my feet.
"Hm? Did you sneak out or something to get this?" He asked, a little half smirk on his face now as he tugged at the wrapping paper.
"You know I did." I grinned back, "I had to top the gift you got for me for my birthday. Get ready to flip out."
Shaking his head he tore the wrapping paper and looked at the gift. His eyes opened wide and he did a double take. Grabbing my shoulder he stared at me, his eyes practically lit up.
"HOW?!" he cried out, "It's not supposed to come out for like three more days?!"
I smirked, "I have my ways."
An Xbox 360. I may or may not have bribed a video game store employee for it with lotto numbers over the course of a few weeks. Is that illegal? Maybe. Did I care? No. Wrapping his arms around me he lifted me off his bed and spun me around, his head on the top of my head. He laughed softly then set me down, still holding me close. I couldn't help but blush!
"I can't believe you did this for me." He whispered, I could feel the smile on his face, "You're so amazing."
I looked up at him proudly, "Yeah, I knew you'd like it."
"I literally can't believe you did this." He said again, looking at it, "Why would you go through all this trouble for me?"
"Well you got me that super rare Cinnamoroll plush so I had to get you something just as good!" I said, sitting back down in the edge of his mattress.
"That was easy for me though, I just bought that off a scalper. This is like…" he brushed his hair back off his forehead, brimming with excitement, "This is nuts. You're seriously amazing."
He started opening the box and setting it up, chattering away about how long he wanted one. It came out in America in the spring and he'd been waiting. He hummed with delight as he plugged it in and turned it on, looking back to grin at me like a kid on Christmas.
I'm not sure when, but at some point I fell asleep. The next time I woke up, it was Suguru and Satoru's quiet whispering that roused me.
"...two am last night? She really…."
"... too nice for this. I'm worried about…"
"Did she tell you about…"
"... Why not?"
