In the dimly lit corridors of the old office building, shadows danced like specters as I  moved silently, my senses heightened. The air was heavy with the musty scent of aged papers and forgotten memories. With the  dagger clutched tightly in my hand, I navigated the labyrinthine halls, each step echoing a soft protest against the ancient floorboards.

As I approached a decrepit office, the atmosphere grew tense. The cursed spirit, a grotesque fusion of shadows and malevolence, emerged from the darkness with an otherworldly hiss. Its eyes glowed an eerie crimson, fixated on me. Quick reflexes and allowed me to dodge its initial strike. I scoffed, this thing really was beneath me.

In the ethereal glow of the moon filtering through cracked windows, the ghostly skeleton materialized beside me. Its bony form stood resolute, a silent guardian summoned from within his home in the dagger. With a flicker of blue light, the skeleton lunged at the cursed creature, engaging it in a spectral dance.

I seized the opportunity, my dagger cutting through the air with precision. The cursed creature recoiled, its howls reverberating through the abandoned building. The ghostly skeleton, undeterred, continued to distract and harry the creature, providing openings for me to exploit.

With a final, decisive strike, I plunged the dagger into the heart of the curse. The air crackled with dissipating malevolence as the creature convulsed, its form disintegrating into dissipating shadows. The ghostly skeleton stood sentinel for a moment longer before fading away, its purpose fulfilled. Silence descended upon the old office building, broken only by my measured breaths. I glanced around, the dagger still in hand.

Daaamn~! ” I heard Satoru's voice and a steady clap from his hands as he walked up behind me, “That was pretty slick! You're killin’ it today, baby!”

Twirling the ooze off my dagger, I sheathed it again and wiped my brow on my uniform sleeve. It felt pretty good to be back into a uniform, although I thought it was a little silly since I definitely wouldn't fit in it in a few more months.

His eyes traced the curve of my abdomen, it was becoming a little noticable I was pregnant, four months in. Enough of a curve that if you knew you could tell. I was short anyway, and there was no way a huge guy like him hadn't so kindly gifted me an equally huge baby to carry.

“Only four left, yeah?” I asked, grinning at him, “You think when we're done we can get some of those pudding cups with the chocolate sauce?”

He held one hand to his heart, the other dramatically against his forehead, “Oh, you're an angel.” he said, tilting his head back, his sunglasses reflecting the moonlight, “Those are my favorite.”

“Everything sweet is your favorite. This has been a busy week,” I said, texting Ijichi who was on duty with us, “How many does that make?”

Satoru rubbed his chin, thinking back, “At least twelve so far, and it's only Wednesday.” He shrugged, “It's a busy winter.”

I nodded, slipping my phone back into my back pocket. I tilted my head and squinted a little, looking closely at him. I pointed up and took a few steps closer.

“Your sunglasses…” I said, reaching up pulling them off his face gently, “Yea, they're cracked on the frame again. See?”

He looked a little closer at them in my hands and groaned, “God damn it.”

“Oh, you know.” I suddenly remembered, “Why don't you swap to the blindfold for fighting curses? You'll loose less sunglasses and honestly it's a pretty good look.”

“You like that look?” He smirked, pushing his sunglasses back on with his finger tips, “The blindfold thing?”

“I dunno why.” I smiled at him, “Probably just because it's you and I like you in pretty much anything. It's iconic too.”
