It was dark in Shibuya, the power was already flickering in this section of the city. The moonlight illuminated us both, reflecting off the glass shards on the street from all the fights and panic. The tension was high, I could hear my own heart beating hard in my ears. Sukuna stood still, dangling the rope in front of me like a man playing with a dog. Nanami, Megumi and Yukie were safe in there for now, but I wasn't leaving without that damn rope.
I drew my dagger and he raised his eyebrow. Itadori was about 5’8”, but somehow when he stood tall he felt imposing. Rather than average height, his imposing figure felt mountainous, just the sheer difference in our abilities making me feel cold and already afraid. There was no way I could back down now. He knew that.
“You smug piece of shit.” I spat, tilting my head back, “I'll get that rope back and show you how bad you fucked up by showing yourself to me.”
Sukuna's expression hardened and his jaw set in anger. His eyes widened as his temper flared, his fists tightening at his sides before one hand moved faster than I even registered. I reversed on instinct, feeling just the instant his technique touched my throat.
“You have a foul mouth for a woman.” He growled, “You've never once shown me any kind of respect.”
“That's ‘cos your a bitc–” I was cut off as he grabbed my foot when it connected with his abdomen, literally tossing me over his shoulder and crashing me into a sign ten feet above the street. The bulbs sparked as they shattered around me and I felt my lungs forcefully empty with a gasp. I hit the ground and he was already on me, lifting me up by my neck.
He casually tucked the rope into his pocket, “As I was saying.” he said with a scoff, “You should really show me some respect.”
Then my head was in the concrete. I choked on my blood as it poured down my throat, reaching up desperately to wipe it over my eyes and reverse. I was back on the ground, taking steps away from him but he just moved forward with me with a grin. He was used to it so fast! Only Satoru had adjusted that quickly to my technique!
With a sudden lunge, his hands were around my throat again. I reversed him back alone, still recoiling as my heart pounded in my chest. Still, I held my ground as he came at me again. Wreathing my body in cursed energy just as Satoru had taught me, I kept up with his blows as much as I could. Unlike Satoru, Sukuna was actually trying to kill me and his strikes were relentless even if I made a single mistake.
One mistake. A kick sent me flying again, spinning through the air with him right behind me. I gritted my teeth, taking us back to the moment of impact. I braced myself as his knee connected with my abdomen and drove the dagger deep into his chest. He cackled, gripping the back of my shirt and lifting me up to elbow me in the jaw. My head spun as I crashed through a window, tumbling over desks and chairs until I hit a solid concrete pillar.
I grunted, my eyes squeezed shut. I could hear him before I saw him, picking up a desk and crashing it down on me. I took us back to the kick impact again, driving the dagger into his chest a second time but this time I flipped around him and gripped onto his back. I reached over his shoulder to grab the dagger and pulled it up through his chest. He chuckled, then let us both hit the ground with his full weight bearing down on me.
I yelped, my lungs pierced by my shattered ribs. Back again. This time a half second before the kick and I dashed back out of the way. I was panting, healing my body with the blood already dripping from my wounds. He was incredible. I stood absolutely no chance like this. I had to come up with something different fast. He wasn't just physically stronger and faster, he could understand my technique perfectly and accurately guess my moves.
“Ah, I see.” He said casually, picking at one of his fingernails, “Your blood just needs to still be wet to use it and you are not affected by the time difference. That's why one swipe on your eyes lasts so long.” He took a few steps towards me, “Have you found out what happens when you use too much? Why don't we find out?”
