“I love you.”

As I made my way to the stairs with Suguru, her words lingered in my mind. I stood just inside the stairwell, by the door, feeling a surge of anticipation. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for the inevitable.

BANG

My body jerked involuntarily as the deafening sound of the gunshot pierced through the air. I turned my gaze towards Suguru, struggling to make out his figure through the blur of tears that clouded my vision. It was in that moment that I truly understood the immense power of sorrow.

Overwhelmed by grief, my body convulsed with sobs, each breath a struggle. Tears blurred the world around me, and a deep ache settled in my chest as the weight of loss consumed every part of my being. The pain was relentless, echoing in the void left by her absence.

I sat on the stairs up to the rooftop, leaning against the rail completely lost. She was gone. Really gone.

Suguru stood next to me, his presence comforting yet filled with his own sorrow. I could hear the soft sound of his sobs, his body shaking as he tried to maintain his composure. In that moment, silence enveloped us both, as we struggled to find the right words to express our emotions. What words could possibly make this okay?

I thought I could carry on, giving my all to this world even without her, but damn, was I stupid? The moment she left, it felt like all the vibrant hues drained from my life. The warmth vanished, leaving behind a sense of hopelessness and monotony.

Suguru looked down at me, wiping one eye on his wrist, “Do you… do you want me to take care of her body or…?”

I shook my head, “I… I'll help. I think I just… I need closure.”

Standing up, I wiped my face off on my sleeves and let out a shuddering sigh. My nose was completely closed off, my eyes burning still, but we had to do this quickly. Suguru waited for me to pull myself together and we stepped back onto the roof.

But someone else got there first.

In the warm glow of the sunset, she stood tall on the rooftop, her sandy blonde hair catching the last rays of daylight. Bright teal eyes sparkled with a subtle intensity, framed by a soft, round face that carried an air of gentleness. Despite her athletic build and standing tall at five foot nine, there was an undeniable grace to her presence, and the sharpness in her eyes hinted at a quiet strength beneath her exterior.

She’d covered Sarah's body with a sheet, then turned towards Suguru and me, flashing a warm smile. There was something oddly familiar about her, something in her eyes and face that made me feel like I knew her, but I knew for sure that I would never forget someone like her. Her energy was through the roof, almost if not exactly matching mine. I guessed she must have been around our age.

“Hey.” She said, with a little wave, “I uhh I know this is probably pretty weird and a bad time, but I have something I need from you Gojo.”

Walking forward confidently, she held Sarah's dagger in her hands. Although something was different about it, something strange. It felt more powerful, more alive.

“Why do you have that?” I demanded, gritting my teeth, “That's hers .”

“Woah, yeah I know!” She held up her hands, “Relax, big guy. Slow your roll. I'm on your side.”

Cocky. She was really cocky. Not an ounce of fear in her body as she approached both of us.

“This is all some weird time travel bullshit so I'll spare you the details. I don't want to explain it to a you that won't remember this.” She said casually, “Although you'll remember some of it I guess since he's here.” She gestured to the dagger.
