Rejection

Taking a sip of coffee you placed the cup on table and darted your eyes up at him. He gulped when your eyes met his and his heart was tickled. You had no idea how nervous he was, his right foot was continuously tapping on the floor under the table. His heart was already beating in fast pace due to anxiousness and your enchanting eyes were making it do backflips even more. Not able to look in your eyes anymore he picked up a water bottle from the side and took a big sip. You tilted your head in confusion at his weird behavior. He took you here but wasn't saying anything.
Yn(deciding to break the silence):"So Mr Jeon, what is it ?"
You asked gently.
He cleared his throat and licked his dry lips. It won't be an exaggeration at all that his heart was beating in his palms at the moment.
Leaning ahead he planted his elbows on the table and clasped his hands together.
Jungkook:"Actually, please don't freak out or don't get me wrong."
He said, a little afraid of your reaction.
Your curiosity just increased, what did he mean by that. You stared in his eyes and those doe eyes were pleading for assurance. You don't know why but you found yourself agreeing.
Yn:"Please be at ease. I am all ears."
He exhaled shakily and regained his composure. He couldn't be a coward like that. He had to do that. Because it was a blind end for him. He didn't know when he'll get another chance hence he couldn't put this opportunity of confessing his feelings to waste. You were his destination, his only destination. After wait of all these years he had finally found you and he just couldn't take any more breaths without you. He couldn't exist anymore, without you, it was truly impossible for him.
Gulping the lump down his throat he gained all his courage and decided to stay composed.
Jungkook:"I don't know how to say it properly, I have no idea yn."
You sat focused and your eyebrows twitched a little at that informal way of addressing you. "yn". Anyways, you didn't interrupt him waiting for him to finish whatever he wanted to say.
Finally, the moment had come.
Jungkook:"I know this'll sound crazy to you.... But the moment my gaze has captured you I haven't been able to stop thinking about you, it's just like you've have enchanted my soul and left a permanent seal on me."
He blurted out his true feelings lowly but somehow desperately.
Your mouth went agaped for a moment, as your brain slowly processed his words. He shifted a little on his place in distress after seeing your blank face. You had no expression on.
Jungkook:"Yn...I.... I am genuine. I've been waiting for you since all my life. Now that I've found you, I can't anymore. I just can't be away from you anymore."
There were so many emotions in him that couldn't be described in a single sitting. The clasp of his interwined fingers around each other tightened even more.
As soon as his words sank in, you couldn't believe it was happening. He just met you a few days ago and he's saying that he is into you ? What is this ? Is he-
You looked up at him and he whispered uncontrollably.
Jungkook:"I love you."
He purred softly, his insanity evident in the tone.
You statued for a moment before gazing in his orbs in perplexity. But..... You stopped when you saw the desperation his eyes held. Surprisingly enough you felt like you could read him like an open book. There was this genuine shine of honesty in those orbs that made you still for a moment. you pressed your lips in a thin line and looked down for a moment before finally meeting his eyes.
He was looking back at you as if his decision of his life or de@th was going to be announced.
Yn:"I.....I'm sorry."
His heart dropped brutally. It felt like someone dug a st@gger in his abdomen and dragged it up ripping his chest open mercilessly.
Jungkook:"Y-yn.."
His words got struck in throat.
Yn(sighing heavily after seeing him getting pale):"I don't know what to say. It's so sudden. I just....never expected that."
You tried to convey your thoughts as gently as possible.
He licked his lips and looked at you in the eyes, with the prominent agony flickering in his dark orbs. It was bizarre but it just happened to be like this, you could understand his emotions. It definitely made you feel bad, a little sad for him. Suddenly something flashed in your mind.
Yn:"D-didn't you say that you already had someone special ? Last night ?"
Jungkook:"I was taking about you. You are my special one."
He instantly cleared your misunderstanding.
You were left speechless for a moment. You blinked in disbelief, so he already liked you ? You weren't doubting his feelings towards you, because you knew you had no right to do that. You couldn't peak in anyone's heart to see what's there but you were clear about yourself, that you didn't have any such feelings for him. And you couldn't even imagine that, you had just seen him as someone Jiah loved. And you couldn't think of dating the man your sister loves, it would be so disrespectful towards her feelings when she trusted you with her secret. You just didn't want to be in this mess at all.
Yn:"I'm sorry mr Jeon. I respect your feelings and I appreciate them but I'm sorry I can't reciprocate them."
He swallowed heavily and released a sharp breath to hold his senses. There was no way it could be possible, he just couldn't be without you. Even the thought of it sucked the life out of him hence it couldn't happen actually.
Jungkook:"I'm not telling you to love me back immediately. But please give me a chance. Yn, I'll wait for you as long as you want. Just please don't push me away and give me a chance to show my love."
He stated with his nerves palpitating in anticipation.
You could vividly see the begging look in his eyes but you were unaware of the fact that you were the only one who could make him so helpless that he wouldn't hesitate to get on his knees for you.
But unfortunately, you couldn't agree to that. You didn't want to make your simple life a complex thing and break your sister's heart just like that, especially when you didn't have feelings for him. You could understand if Jungkook didn't love Jiah back he wasn't obligated to love her back and you could also understand if he found himself in love with you, and maybe just maybe you could consider to give him the chance after the honesty and intensity of emotions that was visible in his eyes and actions, only if it wasn't as complex as it was now. You just weren't in favour to do something that could bring problems in your family life. You loved your family and you loved your sister.
You sighed softly and smiled a little at him.
Yn:"I'm afraid I can't do that Mr Jeon. Like I said I totally respect your emotions but I don't find myself in the position to accept that."
His blood froze in pain, and waves of anguish travelled through him.
He couldn't imagine it, he just couldn't.
Jungkook:"Can I please know the exact reason why you can not consider me ?"
Yn:"I.... I just don't want to be in any relationship right now. I'd prefer the man my father will choose for me when the right time comes."
You didn't want to sound rude and hurt him so this was the best reason you could utter at the time. It wasn't a complete lie though. You had always wanted your father to choose your life partner for you.
He stared at you blankly but his mind suddenly thought of something. "man my father will choose for me."
A sudden hope arose in his heart, he who was feeling himself at brink of de@th at your rejection finally had a ray of hope.
Jungkook:"So,...... so you're saying that you want to have relationship that'd be arranged by your father ?"
He asked lowly.
You nodded slightly. He would understand that right ? After knowing that you want to have an arranged marriage by your father's choice he'd probably understand your situation and would try to move on right ? This way you could decline his rejection politely so why not.
That's what you thought.
Oh only if you knew he'd d!e rather than giving up on you ..... And moving on ?? That's not a thing in his world. In his world it's just you. It has to be you.
Yn:"I don't want to hurt you and if I am doing I apologize."
He could see guilt in your eyes and he didn't want you to feel bad. He could never want that.
Jungkook:"Don't be. Don't apologize."
He said rather affectionately.
You smiled daintily and robbed his heart one more time. He mirrored your pristine smile.
Yn:"I really have to go now Mr Jeon."
You said checking the time in your phone.
He nodded and stood up.
Jungkook:"I shall drop you."
Yn:"No no, it's okay don't bother please. My driver is already here."
He wanted to spend more time with you but he didn't insist in order to not make you feel uncomfortable.
You gave him a last greeting before walking out of the cafe and he followed you.

He cleared his throat and looked away with little flushed cheeks after receiving the astonished glances from his parents through screen. He was on a video call with them.
Mrs Jeon:"Can u please repeat it ?"
She asked in disbelief.
He bit inside of his cheek and kept looking away.
Mr Jeon:"We're coming tomorrow."
He said, kind of awestruck.
This time Jungkook sat straight and looked at the laptop screen.
Jungkook:"Should I book tickets for you ?"
His eyes were sparkling.
They looked at each other and then back at him.
Of course, the way he was behaving was totally out of his character. He had spent almost all of his childhood with his grandma and they were unaware of his "hopeless romantic" side, everyone was unaware of it. He was known as cold and dry person. It wasn't like they didn't pay attention to him instead it was he who loved his grandma too much and wanted to live with her. They didn't know that their son could be so in love because they had no idea he had found someone he had been waiting for years, his only one.
Mr Jeon:"Of course. Of the first flight tomorrow."
Jungkook picked his phone and was about to proceed when his mother's voice stopped him.
Mrs Jeon:"Wait, wait. Honey first of all tell me how long have you been dating ?"
She asked, curiously. Because he had never discussed about a girl before.
He shrugged.
Jungkook:"We aren't dating."
She frowned.
Mrs Jeon:"What ? You guys aren't even dating and you want us to talk about your marriage with her parents ?"
He shifted on his place and bent a little towards the laptop screen.
Jungkook:"Mom actually she wants to have a relationship by her father's choice and I have no problem, I mean I will marry her eventually."
He said without hiding anything.
Mrs Jeon:"Still honey don't you think-"
Mr Jeon(cutting Mrs Jeon off):"stop ! Stop yeobo ! It's totally okay. We can meet her parents and present our proposal. Do you think anyone can reject our handsome young man? If they want to start their relationship this way then let them be."
Jungkook smiled a little at that.
Mrs Jeon (sighing):"Fine. Do you have her picture ?"
He pressed his lips in a thin line to stop his smile and nodded.
Jungkook:"I'll send you."
