Letting go

You couldn't believe your father was finally not angry with you. You sniffed once more and he patted your head with a sigh. You just tightened your arms around him.
When you heard that your dad came to meet you, you couldn't believe in your ears. And when he finally embraced you, he finally told you that your mom informed him about the truth you couldn't be more grateful to God.
Yn:"D-dad I m-missed you."
He sighed and blinked his moist eyes.
Mr Shin:"Shh now stop crying, i'm here."
He rubbed your back.
Yn:"D-dad i-"
Jungkook:"Yn ! Yn !"
You slightly flinched at the loud voice and soon Jungkook dashed into the living room. He was panting, with sweat on his forehead. He was sweating even in this cold weather.
He looked at you and panted, tiny droplets of tears accumulated in corners of his red, pained eyes. His heart was in mouth.
Jungkook:"Love."
He breathed out after seeing you but then his eyes averted towards Mr shin, and his heart twisted in peril. Gulping the lump down his dry throat he gasped to breath.
His veins palpitated in fear. He clenched his hands into fists.
You were just looking at him a little perplexed, he looked devastated. What happened to him ?
You wanted to ask if he was okay but before you could do so, your dad spoke.
Mr Shin:"Oh you came Jeon. You see I am here to know your decision."
He sounded serious.
You looked at your dad with a frown.
Yn:"Dad ?"
Your dad glanced at you before averting his eyes back to Jungkook.
Jungkook's soul trembled even thinking about that. He took steps towards you and stopped right Infront of you, looking straight at you.
His nose stung from stopping tears.
Jungkook:"Yn, love"
He whispered and looked at your hands that were holding onto your dad's arm.
However, Mr shin again spoke.
Mr Shin:"Which one did you choose ?"
He felt a pit in his stomach.
You frowned.
Yn:"What are you talking about dad ?"
Jungkook's eyes were fixated on you.
Mr Shin (impassive):"He has to choose one of the two."
You were confused while Jungkook's fists tightened even more. His breaths were getting shallow.
Mr Shin:"Either he'll leave you and let you go with me, or........keep you with him but you won't meet me ever again."
You gasped quietly in disbelief before looking at your dad and Jungkook squeezed his eyes shut.
Everything rang in his mind, making it a mess. He was barely standing on his feet.
He felt suffocated.
It was much worse than walking on a thin thread.
"What will you do ?" His mind asked from his heart.
"If you let her go...you'll d!e... without her...and if you don't let her go...she'll be tormented forever.....without her dad..." his heart whispered. And he rubbed his face while taking a quivering breath. Mr Shin was looking at his condition quietly.
You gulped. Not knowing what to say. Your heart started beating fast.
Mr Shin:"I'll be waiting in the car. Ten minutes. You have ten minutes. If you don't come yn, I'll go back."
He said expressionlessly before patting your head and walked out, leaving you frozen. You were in shock.
Jungkook looked at you and called you lowly.
Jungkook:"lo-love."
His lips were shivering.
He stepped near you and cupped your cheeks softly, gazing in your orbs. The warmth of your touch provided relief to his cold hands.
Jungkook:"Will you answer one question please ?"
He whispered shakily.
You stared back at him, with inquisitive eyes.
Jungkook:"All these days, we were together, you never felt anything for me ?..... Not even for a slightest second ?"
Desperation dripped through his tone.
He looked at you hopefully but you....... slowly looked down....it gave him the answer.......and...d@mn.... something inside him broke....very badly.....not something, everything inside him got crushed......his heartbeats went low.
He struggled hard to smile, and red lines in his eyes became even more prominent.
Jungkook:"You've right yn."
He chocked on his breath.
Jungkook (crestfallen):"You've every right. D-decide what you w-ant. I have hurt you enough,....I thought.....I thought I will make everything right..I-i though I w-will end y-your pain.....but I c-can't. Love, I-i am s-sorry."
Only he knew how he said those words. Only he knew how his heart was st@bbed while saying those words.... because....he somehow knew what you'll decide. He knew what you were going to do.
That moment Jeon Jungkook felt what real agony is.
You looked up at him and for some reason, your heart ached.
"What will I do ?" You thought and your heart told you to go with your dad. Yes, you felt bad for Jungkook and your heart ached after seeing him like that but you couldn't leave your dad, your family for him.
His face was pale, and painful. So painful. Heart wrenching.
He slowly placed his lips on your forehead and inhaled deeply for a few moments with closed eyes, before slowly parting away. His eyes desperately absorbed your features in his heart.
Jungkook:"I am not letting you go. I never can."
He said helplessly. Only fact was you were his love, his sanity and insanity at same time.
Your eyes widened a little thinking that he decided to not let you go but he chuckled sadly after understanding your expressions. His chapped lips softly uttered.
Jungkook:"I am letting myself go. You are taking my soul, my everything with yourself love."
You were taken aback.
Yn:"Jungkook"
You mumbled and he smiled, a very broken smile.
Jungkook:"Just always remember please, I love you with a love that is so much more than love."
He said and dropped his hands down from your face, his face became expressionless. Your heart for some reason became heavy.
Yn:"I hope.....you won't take....some wrong step."
He understood your fear.
Jungkook (grave, low voice):"Don't worry love....i won't k!ll myself."
His words were sharp. However, you stole your gaze away from his dishevelled state and started walking towards the main door.
As soon as you were out of sight, Jungkook felt his soul left his body. He went numb. He couldn't feel his heart beating anymore. What did he feel ?....the ache from head to toe, in every fiber like he was being sl@ughtered.
After reaching in the center of living room, you turned your head to look at him and found him back facing you, statued on his spot. A quiet tear slipped your eye for the reason that was unknown to you.
Yn:"I know you love me and I know you're hurt but it was bound to happen Jungkook, I love my family and I can't compromise on them for you. You forced me to marry you but I'm thankful you're not forcing me to stay. I hope you get over this pain and have a happy life ahead."
You silently thought.
However, as soon as your eyes fell on the wall clock you wiped the tear and stepped out of Jeon mansion, towards your dad's car.
With every step you took away from him a shard of glass pierced deeper into his wounded heart. He was left without his soul. He was standing still, without the slightest movement, statued on his spot. His mind went blank. Totally blank.
