I was awakened by the moist that is touching my face, dahan-dahan kong minulat ang mata ko kahit na bigat na bigat ang talukap ko.
I was greeted by a humidifier on the sidetable. Kumunot ang noo kong mapansing nakahiga ako sa kama. I wanted to stand up pero ramdam ko pa ang panghihina ko.
Tumama ang paningin ko sa bintana, madilim na. I slowly sat down. What happened? Inilibot ko ang paningin ko, pamilyar sa akin ang kwarto.
This is David's private room in the office. As if on queue ay bumukas ang pinto at pumasok doon si David, may kausap ito sa cellphone, nagtama ang paningin naming dalawa.
"She's awake now, I'll check on her and wait for you" he said before he ended the call.
"Why am I here?" tanong ko sa kanya.
He's just wearing a white polo na makatiklop hanggang siko nya. Hindi sya sumagot, instead lumapit sya at dinampi ang likod ng palad nya sa noo ko. I leaned back a little dahil tila nakuryente ako.
"May sinat ka pa" he told me.
"Why am I here? Anong oras na?" tanong ko ulit.
"You fell asleep"
"Anong oras na?"
"It's past 9pm" he answered.
Sht. Napatapik ako sa ulo ko. Ganun ako kahabang oras natulog? Hindi ako nakapasok sa work ko sa bar!
"Dapat ginising mo ako, uuwi na ako" I told him, I sat on the edge of the bed to find my shoes.
"You're sick Morgan"
"I can take care of myself!" inis kong sagot sa kanya.
"Well you don't look like you can!" mataas din ang boses nya.
Tumayo ako to face him, ramdam ko ang panghihina ng tuhod ko.
"Well, guess what, I can, because that's what I have been doing for the past few years simula ng maghiwalay tayo" inis kong isinuot ang sapatos ko.
"Stay here, you need to rest" his voice toned down.
"Dapat kasi ginising mo na lang ako, mag i explain na naman ako kay Patricia bakit hindi ako nakabalik, hindi pa ako nakapasok sa trabaho ko!"
"Again, you want to explain everything, it's like you don't want to be associated with me-
"Why? Do we still need to be associated with each other, David? Diba ikaw na nga ang may sabi, niloko kita, so why would you give people the opportunity to talk about us, diba ginawa ng pamilya mo ang lahat to quiet down our annulment?"
He let out a deep breath, showing he is losing his patience.
He pushed me down gently pero dahil nga sa hindi maayos ang pakiramdam ko ay napaupo ako.
"Just sit down" he ordered me, I was about to stand up but he held both of my shoulder and pushed me down, nagulat ako kaya napakapit ako sa kanya causing me to fall flat on the bed at sya naman hila-hila ko.
