Marinette's POV:
I heard a knock at the door two hours after supper. Strange, my sister didn't tell me she was having company over. Who could it be? I answered the door. "Are you a Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" The messenger at the door said.
"George, what brings you here?" I asked. "Sorry to disturb you, but the prince requests your presence immediately." I was stunned by his words. Why should the prince wish to see me? "Ooh, the prince wishes to see my sister!" Kagami squealed with delight. "Kagami, it is not like that at all. We are only friends," I said. "Sure, keep telling yourself that lie, and maybe you will believe it," Kagami remarked. I rolled my eyes. "How should I present myself before him?" "He requests you see him at once." I nodded my head.
"I see, then, I shall make myself ready, post haste," I said. I got ready in a hurry, making sure to redo my hair before slipping my shoes on. "I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about anyway." "Are you kidding? The prince requested you, and you don't see that as a Big deal?" Kagami smirked. I left the house before she could insist on redoing my makeup, too. I'd best not keep the prince waiting.
"Right, this way, Miss," George said, opening the coach for me. I entered it feeling rather silly about the entire thing. I could have walked. I dared not argue about such matters. I would not want to upset Adrien. I sighed as I thought about how kind he had been to me. In some strange way, I felt as if we had known each other for years.
Soon, we arrived at the palace. It was way larger than I imagined it. Of course, it would be, after all, I had only seen the dreaded dungeon part years earlier. I groaned at the memory. Why could I not forget that place? It was his father who had sentenced me to it. Not the prince's fault at all. I entered the place feeling nervous.
"Prince Adrien, the lady is here as you requested, sire," George said. Adrien smiled as I was presented to him. "Ah, yes, very nice! George, you may go back to your regular guard duties." Then, he turned to me, "Marinette, it is nice to see you again. I was glad you could come." He grinned. "I was requested, I hardly came because I wanted to," I scoffed. "You wound me, m'lady, as I was hoping you desired to come as much as longed to see you." He gestured for someone to hand him two items; one was the specter, and the other was some paper. Odd, what was going on?
"Arise to your feet at once, Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" The prince ordered as he held out the specter. I stopped bowing and stood up. I was rather relieved at the order. I smiled at him. He smiled back. "By order of his majesty, Prince Adrien Alvin Agreste, soon to be King, you are hereby pardoned of all past grievances, and as such, the sentence is terminated," The man who stood nearby read. I stood there in surprise. Adrien placed the specter on my right shoulder and said, "I hereby pardon you as I must pardon whomever I please, and so the sentence is canceled. Furthermore, you shall be given a job with proper wages, so you may have plenty and have no need to repeat past offenses," The prince remarked.
"I object to the proceedings," Some grumpy lady whose hair was all tussled said. "Queen Amelia, for treason against the throne, the crown, and the lady Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you are hereby banished. Should you violate the orders, you shall be greatly punished, so I suggest you flee now, before I change my mind," Adrien blurted out. Ameila looked stunned. "Surely, you gest, Adrien, as I am your aunt and more than old enough..." "Shh, the sentence is carried out, and I shall change my mind easily. Now go before I have you executed for high treason. Oh, and one more thing, your crown shall be removed and given to whom I choose as a replacement," Adrien stated.
Ameila refused to leave, so the guards dragged her outside and tossed her belongings out with her. "You can't, where shall I go?" "Not my problem," Adrien said. With that, the crown was moved from her ruined hair.
