Description:
When Alya arrives home, she sees a tall, dark, handsome stranger standing in the living room. She has no idea what this means. She winks at him and heads to her room to work on her homework. What happens when her father comes home with an announcement that he has hired a man to keep her safe?
Alya's POV:
Today was like another day, except it was not. I went to school, but when I got home, some dream boy was in the living room talking to my mother. I winked at him before leaving to go to my room to work on this week's homework. I finished the math and studied for my history test. I took a break, studied some more, wrote a poem for the poetry class, and practiced my part in the play as part of the school's drama club. I hadn't heard my father's car pull up.
"Alya Dawn Cesarie," I heard my father's voice call out to me. I knew it was something important. I could tell because he had gone through the trouble of calling me by my entire name instead of only my first name. I headed downstairs to see what he wanted. "Yes, father?" "Take a seat," he said. I did as I was told. I had a habit of doing so. I grinned as he introduced me to the stranger from before. "This is Nino Bernard Lahaffe, and he is to be an important part of our lives, mainly yours. I hired him to keep an eye on you. He is to see to it that you are protected at all costs." I looked at my father shocked. How could he?
"What? You hired a bodyguard for me?" I blurted out. I was furious. None of my friends had bodyguards. Why should I be any different? "Alya, it is a matter of principle, you see I am a busy man. Well, I can't let something happen to you," He explained. I shook my head. This was too much. "No way," I protested. "Well, if it is a conciliation, I did not want to take the job. Your father was adamant that I had to do it or he could turn me in to the authorities." The young man, Nino said. "Oh, you are doing this as an obligation to my father because he is blackmailing you."
I walked off, in a huff. My father could not be serious, could he?
Time skip!
The next day, I walked to school, pretending not to notice the presence of a certain someone behind me. "Miss Cesarie, I believe you almost forgot your lunch," I heard him say. I turned around. "Thank you, but if this is going to work do not call me Miss Cesarie, call me Alya," I said. "Alright then, Miss Alya, I shall see you after school, " He said as he watched me enter the classroom. How embarrassing, I thought.
I watched as he stood behind the rose bushes outside the building. I tried hard to pay attention to the lessons but was distracted by the cute traitor. I pulled the blinds down. There now that was much better.
After the first class finished, I went to the next one. I could hear the others giggling as I entered the room. "What?" I asked. They all pointed outside. I could see him standing on the sidewalk waving at me. "Oh, him, that is the cruel joke my father played on me," I scoffed. "Joke, what do you mean, Alya? All I see is a boy who has a crush on you," Marinette teased me. "Yes, he is totally into you," Zoe added. "It is not happening. He works for my father," I told them. "Your father, hired him to do what exactly?" Chole asked. "Not that, it is your business, but he is my bodyguard." I rolled my eyes.
Marinette, Zoe, Sabrina, and Alix were surprised. Chole laughed. "As if your father could have hired him to keep you safe. Ha, ha, what kind of dimwhit do you think I am?" She scoffed.
Later, after school that day, I walked home. Marinette and Zoe came with me. Sabrina went with Chole. How those two ever became best friends is a mystery to me. I entered the house glad for the support from two of my closest friends. "Miss Alya, I must insist that your father said nothing about your friends coming over." I heard a voice say. "Well, they are my best friends, Marinette and Zoe, and they are more than welcome here," I explained. "Fine. but in the future please inform me before they drop by," He said. I stuck my tongue out at him. He did not look the least bit amused.
"Alya, how did it happen?" Marinette asked. "What?"I asked. "You know the entire thing with the arrangement between your father and this Nino person," Zoe asked.
