Alya's Perspective:
I went to school. I had gotten to know him better since Marinette and Zoe announced they were busy with dates so much it made me feel jealous. I told him that it made me feel left out. "Is that silly? I have not dated anyone, but Zoe has had boyfriends before, only this time the guy she is with seems rather serious," I explained. "As for Marinette, I am glad she told her crush she liked him and equally grateful he likes her back, but do they have to go out so much? I mean, they have only been studying dates, for a few days already."
"I have to ask your father for a raise when he returns. I did not expect to be bombarded with your stories about your friends' dating relationships, let alone your whining about not having a date yourself. I am sure some guy out there is just waiting to ask you out," Nino told me. My eyes widened in surprise. "You think so, Mr. Nino?" I asked my hands on my hips.
"Sure, why not, I mean you are honest, smart, and cute." I gasped. I could not believe my ears. Nino had called me cute. "Do you mean it?" I asked. "Mean what?" He inquired. "Do you think I am cute?" I asked. "Miss Alya, you are more than cute, you are positively beautiful," He blurted out. I felt my face flush.
"I better get to school, but I will see you around," I said. I headed out the door with my backpack and lunch bag. I could not dare look at him the same way again. I mean it, he had called me cute. Then, he called me beautiful. What on earth? I arrived at school with my back turned to him. I felt I could scarcely breathe with him around. What had gotten into me?
I entered the school without a word. I sat in my usual seat beside the new girl. It had been the one Miss Bustier assigned me to since Zoe sat with Luka and Marinette was now sitting with Adrien. I sighed. The new girl did not speak much. When she did it was usually to tell me about her latest interview with some famous person or some nonsense. I listened to the lesson taking notes glad for a distraction from the boy-no the man- who had somehow won my heart.
During lunch, I caught him looking in my direction and blushed. To my horror, he came and sat beside me putting an arm around me while the others looked on with amusement. "See told you, Alya has a man," The newbie bragged. "No one asked you, Lila," I remarked. "Ooh, touche," she scoffed. "Is this the man you told us about?" Marinette asked. "Yes, is he?" Zoe remarked. "Oh, do tell," Lila sneered. "Lila, go crawl back into whatever hole you crawled out of and leave us alone," Nino retorted.
Lila left the table with tears streaming down her face. She sat at another table. The people there stuck their tongues out. Nino rolled his eyes. "Such immaturity, am I right?" I asked. Nino laughed. I pouted. "Awe, is my lady, sad?" He asked. I nudged him with my elbow. "Who are you trying to pull?" I whispered. Marinette and Zoe smirked. Their boyfriends did the same.
Later, after school, Zoe left with Luka, and Adrien left alone for a photo shoot. Marinette went back to the bakery to help her parents. I went home with Nino following me around like a puppy dog to its mother. I was so embarrassed about what happened at lunch, I refused to say another word to him. I went to my room slamming the door.
I worked on my homework. I heard the door creak open but did not say anything. Besides, Nino was on watch; I would be fine. I did not bother to look up when he entered the room.
"Alya," He said. "Out!" I shouted. "Sorry, but it is my job to keep you safe," He said. "Since when does my safety include you barging into my room unannounced? " I asked. Nino pulled me close. I gasped in surprise.
"Shh," Nino whispered. I could tell he was serious. My eyes widened, but I did as he said. Soon, I saw some creep climb out from under my bed. I did not move a muscle or say a word. Nino pulled out a weapon and held it out. "Hold it right there," He said. The intruder turned around. He glared at us. "You would not dare use that on me in front of the lady," He scoffed.
The man then charged at Nino. Nino let go of me. He gasped for air as the creep held him in a chokehold. "No!" I screamed. The bad person snarled and laughed. I heard a loud sound ring out in my ears as the gun went off. I screamed. I hit the floor, and when I got back up the bad guy was on the ground, the police putting handcuffs on him. "Great work, Mr. Lahaffe, we have been after this guy for months." The officer said as he took him away.
After the police left, Nino turned to me. "Alya," He whispered. "N-Nino," I stuttered. I had a newfound respect for the guy. I did not know what else to say. Nino smiled at me and hugged me. I hugged him. I looked up into his eyes. It was the first time I had seen them since his sunglasses had been broken when he had saved me from the intruder. I did not know what came over me. I found myself crying as I reached up and placed a hand on his left cheek. It was the first time I noticed a scar on his face.
"Alya, I think it is best if," he began. "Whatever it is, don't," I said. I carrassed his face with my hand. I leaned in and kissed his cheek. Nino closed his eyes. "A-Alya," He muttered. "I can't," He said. He stepped back. "I am sorry. I just..."I felt tears fill my eyes as I walked away.
