      Adrien's POV:

I felt sorry for Chole. I could tell she felt down somehow. I was sure of it because she came into the classroom with her head down. That was something she had not done in years. Could it be that part of her old self, the sensitive side, was still around?  I had to admit I missed the old Chole. The one I could talk to without her judging me, the one I could explain how cruel my father was without her laughing at me, and the one who understood me.

Lately, we had grown apart.  It started in high school when she stuck gum on Marinette's desk. I tried to insist she remove it. She laughed and acted like it was no big deal. Why had she become a bully?  What happened to make her react in such a way?  Could it be she was jealous?

I sat at my desk writing notes as the teacher spoke. I knew there must be some reason she changed for the worse. What was it?  I sometimes wondered what Chloe would have been like if her mother had not left her.

After class, I went out with Marinette, all the while wondering about Chloe.  Strange, I know, because I had insisted for years that Marinette was "just a friend," but soon discovered how wrong I was.  Chole's mother, Audrey, had come for a random visit and invited Marinette to go to New York with her. I was stunned. Somehow, I did not want Marinette to go. I could not let her leave me. I knew then that I had started to like her. I mean, as more than a friend.

It took me a long time to ask her out; she had dated Luka for a while, then they broke up. I never understood why.  I dated Kagami, and poor Marinette had set us up cause I asked her to. How could I have been so cruel?  Anyway, I finally asked Marinette out. It was after our class returned from our trip to London. I was so impressed with how she stood up to my father. I felt I owed her some repayment. She insisted I owed her nothing.  I asked her out.

I was happy with Marinette. So, why did some part of me miss Chole?  Was it because we had been friends since grade school? Was that it?

"Marinette, what if we somehow explained to Mrs. Bougerious that her daughter loves her?" I blurted out. "What do you mean?" Marinette asked. "I mean, do you think if we somehow convinced her  to admit she loves Chole that might help Chole to snap out of it?" I remarked.  "I suppose, but why are you concerned for Chole, all of a sudden?  You are not having second thoughts about us, are you?" Marinette asked.  "Of course, not, Marinette,  I am happy to be with you. Chole was my first friend before I met Nino, you, and the others. I hate to see her miserable, that is all, " I  said.

Marinette hugged me. "I feel sorry for her, too. She looked a bit depressed earlier. The poor girl, I never thought about it until now, how hard it must be for her with her mother leaving so far away from her."  Marinette said. "Sometimes, I wish her mother had not left. I could not help but feel like it somehow if she had stayed, things would have better for everyone." I said.  "I know because you did mention that Chole was once nice, long before her mother left," Marinette added.

The two of us put together a plan to help Chole and her mother. I sure hoped it would work. If not, at least we did our best.  It was the least we could do for the downheartened Chole. It beats her threatening to call her father every time she does not get her way. That never seems to amount to anything but trouble.
