    Nino's POV:

I stood towards the bottom of the stairs to give her some privacy. It was the least I could do for her after reprimanding her for bringing her two best friends home. I had no right to do such a thing, it was the message in her eyes and voice. I felt bad enough as it is that I let myself dragged into this business in the first place. I had to be her "bodyguard" because my father owed some money to hers and if I did not I could end up in jail right alongside him. Mr. Cesarie knew some stuff about me few people did.

I sighed. It was too bad the girl was stubborn as she was beautiful. I had not told her about the tiny crush I had on her. How could I? It was clear to me she wanted nothing to do with me. Well, that was fine by me. I was not her boyfriend. I was only here as the hired boy to keep her safe she had made that fact known to her besties earlier that day. It was too bad my sister and I never got along or I could have asked her for advice. Who was I kidding? She had moved out years ago, and we had not spoken since.

My mother was not someone I could confide in. She had not spoken to my father and me since I was four years old when she walked out on us. At least, that is what my father told me, but I suspected there was more to the story than he knew. I researched her name and discovered she had a deceased sister. She had not told us her real name. I hated secrets.

I kept my cool. I pretended Alya's hatred towards me did not matter. I might as well protect her to the fullest even if it killed me. It was my duty. I could not betray my father after all he had done for me. Under no circumstances would I let myself get too close to the object of my affection.

I heard a car pull up while the girls were upstairs chatting.  I overheard them discuss many things. I had told them my specialty "social hearing" as my father called it.  I could hear things that most could not. I looked outside and saw a blue sedan in the driveway.  Mr. Cesarie was out of town for two weeks with his wife. The two were spending some quality time together. There was no sense in troubling the girls about it. I watched the vehicle pull away. What a relief. I did not want to disturb the Cesarie's unless it was necessary.

Alya came downstairs alone at some point. "Mr. Lahaffe, My friends and I want to order a pizza. Does that suit you?"  "Miss Alya, you may order any food you wish," I answered. I watched her pick up the phone and order the meal. I did not tell her how gorgeous she looked today.  Instead, once she was off the phone, I waved at her, she laughed and went back upstairs. I overheard her say something about how odd the cute boy was.  I admit I was a little jealous.

Later that evening, I saw Marinette and Zoe at the door. As they left, I grinned. Alya shut the door and spun around. "Ugh, are you going to stand there all night?" she asked. "Good night, Miss Alya," I said.  She shook her head as she went back upstairs. Oh, how I longed to hold her. I did not dare.  The job did not require it. I was not sure her parents would allow it.

        Time skip!

It had been two days since I started the job and I regretted it already. I kept an eye- on her and her friends on the way to school, at school, and after classes every day. Each night, I watched after her making sure no strangers entered the house, that nothing exited the house that was not supposed to, and that she did not leave without my knowing about it.

I noticed that she came home by herself for once. I did not ask about it. It was not my business to priey. I  overheard her say to herself something about how unfair it was that Marinette and Zoe had dates for some event.

The story continues in What a Hunk Part 3 (Alyno/Djwifi)
