       Adrien's POV:

It has been a year since I went to the funeral. One year, my dad has been trying to pressure me into dating some new model girl in town. I laughed at the notion.  I told him that in no such terms would  I ever go out with someone he wanted me to date. Not ever again.

"I have learned from my past mistakes. It is time I did what I wanted for a change," I told him. He said something about my throwing the family name down the dumpster.    "If anyone did such a thing that was you." I scoffed. Then, I walked away with my hands in my pockets.

I had not heard from Marinette for a long time, and I sighed. I suppose I should have known she would never truly be able to forgive me for all the pain and heartache I had caused her. I did not blame her.

Felix got a job in New York and found new love. He had a fresh start dating this young lady named Zoe Lee, Chole Bourgeious's half-sister, I admit, at first, I was shocked. Now, I am glad he was able to move on.

I hear Alya and Nino are still going strong together. Well, good for them. Someone deserves to be happy through it all.  I  made sure that Longg and Plagg were fed daily. It was the least I could do for the kwami's.  I felt bad for the dragon he was still all shaken up about the death of his holder. I could tell because he rarely spoke a word.

Ding, dong, the doorbell rang, and I opened it. Imagine my surprise when I saw who stood on my porch. "Marinette, it is so good to see you. Do come inside," I greeted her. I watched as she entered, smiling as she survived my house. "Wow, you did a nice job with it, " she said. "So, would you like some tea?" I offered. She grinned. I took that as a yes. I served the tea. In between sips, Marinette explained why she was here after all this time. Something about she had received a telegram from my cousin Felix and felt she had to come right away. "What on earth did Felix say?" I asked. "Something about letting the past go and moving on towards the future."  "Well, what does that have to do with you being here?" I asked even more confused than I was before now.

"I came because my health is not what it once was, and well, I was hoping you could help me." She said. I was stunned. What on earth could she mean? "What I mean, is I am dying, Adrien," She said bluntly. I sobbed.  Marinette held me close. She assured me she did not want any pity. She asked me to take care of her pet bug for her. I was not aware she had one. She held out the earrings and a red kwami to me. It was then, that I understood. She was serious. She wanted to give me her kwami.

"Marinette, I am so sorry," I said. "I know, so am I. I never stopped loving you, Adrien," She confessed.  I asked her to marry me. I suppose it was crazy with what little time we had left. To my relief, she agreed. We were eloped. Turns out Marinette had a few more years left than she thought.

             Time skip!

I was blessed with six more years with Marinette by my side. In those years were given six buddles of joy too.  Hugo, Elizabeth, Emma, Louis, Liam, Jed, and Ned were their names. The last two were identical twins.  I was grateful for the years the few they were with her. At last, I was no longer alone.

I had Marinette, our children, and the kwami's, Tikki, Plagg, and Longg to keep me company. Those were some lovely years. I would cling to them forever in those moments of sadness to come.

If only I had told her sooner how I felt, and she had told me perhaps things would have been different.

          The end...
