  Lila's  POV:

I sat up in the bed, feeling a chill in the air. It has been years since I last felt it. I know you probably don't believe me. I was not always a liar. No, that began later in life.

 " Flashback..."

Many years ago, before I was known as the village "liar, and lunatic, I was an ordinary girl.

I was only three years old. Yet, I remember it now as if it were yesterday. I was in my room coloring when my mother burst in with tears in her eyes. It was my Aunt Hilda, she said, "she is very sick, so I will go see her at once. You must be good for your father while I am away." I was afraid of him. My father was a cruel man. Sure, he was not in front of her, but when she was away, the monster in him came out.

"Please, take me with you," I begged her. No matter how much I tried to get her to understand, she refused to listen. She left to go out of town. Then, it started. He was violent. He screamed at me, called me dirty names, and tried to hurt me. I was so afraid that I didn't know what to do.

Who could I turn to? I was just a small little girl. I screamed and I pushed him hard. He fell, and his head hit the stairs hard. I saw him lying there, still in a pool of blood. I threw up twice. I called the police, but they did not believe me. Oh, the horror...

After the death of my father,  I was sent to a mental institution. I was told it was for my old good.  I grew up believing that somehow it was my fault for what happened. I was  no longer an innocent little girl; now I was a murderer.  I did not understand what it meant at the time.

 "End of Flashback..."

I  wept as I reflected on my childhood being robbed because my mother abandoned me, leaving me with him. With my father, who hated me more than life itself. No wonder, as the years went by and I was eventually released on good behavoir, that I invented stories about where I had been all that time.

The truth was much too painful.  Sooner or later, I was too good at lying that I forgot how to tell the truth. I also found that the bigger the lie, the more attention I was given.

I was adopted by a nice couple who took good care of me. I tried hard to please them, but it was hard too when my past kept haunting me. I would wake up in the middle of the night with visions of my dead father trying to seek revenge for his death.  I was too afraid to tell them.

I became known as the school bully. Fine, I was one of the school bullies. I also hated Marinette. It was not fair that Adrien loved her and not me. I wished she would go away for good so I could have him to myself. I fooled myself into believing that if I had him, I would finally be happy. Yeah, right.  No way would that ever happen.

I could not fool him or her.  Those two saw through all the walls I had built up. They tried to tell me to quit lying, but by then it was too late for me. I had long forgotten how to be truthful after all that time.  I laughed. "Me, a liar?  Ha, Marinette, why don't you tell us who Ladybug is? Hmm..."  I teased her. I knew that deep down she knew. I was not sure how, but I did.

Obviously, she refused to tell me or anyone, for that matter.

Only I found out a few years later that Alya knew Ladybug's identity. I was furious.  Why should she know when I didn't?  I tried to get her to tell me.  She refused. I was so angry that I did something I regretted ever since.  I picked her up and carried her to the Eiffel Tower. I begged her one last time to tell me. She laughed at me.   I threw her off and watched as she landed at the bottom in a heap.

The police arrived, and I lied. I claimed Alya Cesaire was a depressed girl. I tricked them into thinking she had killed herself.   Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste did not believe it. Neither did Nino Lahaffe, her boyfriend.  "Officers, you can't honestly believe her, can you? She did something to Alya, I am sure of it," Nino stated. He did not have proof, so the police let me go.

I thought I was in the clear. Only a few weeks later, the police reviewed the tower's security footage, and you know the rest. I was taken away and sent back to the place of my nightmares. Not back to the house, but to the asylum.
