Everything keeps getting romantized

Am I really doing this? At 4 am? Look I've tried resisting going on this rant but like sometimes I really just can't help myself and so I'll try and make this quick.

Reggie and Ray. (From Julie and the Phantoms.) a father probably in his mid 40s. And a 17 year old ghost who likes to hang out with the 40 year old father and calls him his pal.

My personal little take on their unfortunately one sided friendship is that Reggie sees Ray as the adult figure he never really had and looks up to Ray. Not to mention Alex and Luke are probably more busy in the show with Willie and Julie, we know he's been hanging out with Ray more often.  "He's been stress eating all week" he hung out with him all that week and "I needed a pick me up and hanging with Ray always seems to do the trick" the word always showing consistency that he spends a decent amount of time with Ray.

And I'm extremely positive most people that ship them romantically do it ironically. Like as a little joke. Like "oh they're the best ship" but they're saying it to be ironic.

And that almost makes me more upset. Because like their friendship tho it may be one sided, is not a joke to me and it's certainly not to Reggie.

Like people will romanticize anything even just for shits and giggles but Reggie and Rays one sided friendship had so much potential to be so much more if the show got the chance to go on.

Even without a second season if you just dive into deeper thinking and actually look for it, you will find deeper meaning and more depth in their relationship/friendship.

It's like a father son or buddy type relationship. And we know in the show Reggie's parents were always fighting, which means they were always angry and probably yelling and tension was always high. But Ray is cool calm and collected, the exact opposite of that. And Reggie says in episode 2 "i can tell this man has a kind heart" this is the only second time he "interacts" with Ray and he already knows he's much different from his parents.

Reggie also is what one would call a sunshine character or comic relief. To me he's so much more but it's no doubt he makes people smile and feel joy, and we know that Ray brings that same joy to Reggie.

Their friendship/father-son thing they got going on isn't romantic. Joke or not. And it deserves more attention not as a joke but for what it's really worth c

I'm gonna make a TikTok about this. I have to. They need justice. 

I don't know so I guess my point here was people romantize literally anything and everything even for no reason and in this case it takes away from a beautiful familial form of love.
