Saw this while scrolling TikTok and it's everything. It crushes my soul when people do this but seeing that I'm not the only one makes me so happy! She gets it! Most of the comments do to, and not even the ones that don't aren't really getting to me right now.
Like this is a sentiment I feel so deeply about and could talk about for hours, if I had the words for it but I honestly don't think I could explain it to it's full extent. It's just painful to see romantic ships of platonically in love characters even if it doesn't change the canon. If the whole fandom agrees on it you can feel alienated. Or- and this may be unlikely but it's sorta a fear of mine, the show could see the fans wanting that and do it to please the majority of their audience even if it wasn't the original plan. Or- and what has happened in the one and only fandom I've actively been in, the actors of said characters can say or imply they would get together or did get together in the last. (Everyone thought Alex and Luke were exes and dated in the 90s and their actors have directly said they did but the writers later said it was never a thing.)
So like seeing people ship characters romantically canon or not that you don't ship romantically or that have a platonic bond can change things for how I at least perceive the show and can affect how the cast and crew talk about the show. And when I saw this, it was the fastest repost I have ever done. Bc it's everything. She gets it.
And someone commented something like "this but it hurts even more bc I'm aroace" or something and she responded "I wasn't gonna say anything but yes" so like she even gets it on like an a-spec level.
Society and our culture pushes romance so much but lately I've been seeing so much love and appreciation for platonic love and I love it 💜💜💜
