CHAPTER FORTY ONE.
ABU DHABI.

"So, you two are friends?" Alisha asked, standing infront of Charles and Dariyah, who were seated on the couch like two busted kids.

"Yes. What else would we be?" Dariyah forced out a laughter, nudging Charles to do the same. Charles laughed along with her, "Ofcourse, Ma'am. We're just friends."

Alisha stared at the two kids infront of her, unsure. "Fine. But since when did you allow boys to stay over at your house, Dariyah? Last time I checked, you'd choose to run away rather than inviting guys over your place."

"It's because!" Charles sudden shout startled the mother-daughter duo. "It's because I'm not staying over. I had brought some souvenirs and gifts for your daughter." Charles cleared his throat and continued with a lower voice this time.

"And why exactly would you do that? How'd you guys even meet?" Alisha raised her brow in suspicion, she was about to ask more questions but their interrogation session was interrupted by the door bell ringing again. "I'll get the food." And with that, she was gone.

"What the hell are you doing here?! Aren't you supposed to be coming tomorrow?!" Dariyah turned to her love in anger.

"I wanted to surprise you! A little heads up would've been nice,y'know?" Charles huffed.

"It's my fault?! How?! I didn't even know you were coming here. Were you lying about the suitcase? Were you actually planning on staying over at my place?" Dariyah didn't know what to feel. If he really was planning on staying at her house, things would seem to be moving fast and Dariyah was never a big fan of moving fast.

Sure, she stayed at his home when she went to Monaco but that's different. She could never afford a hotel room at Monaco but that fact doesn't matter to Charles. Yes, a small part of her might feel happy about the fact of him wanting to stay with her but still it was going fast. Y'Allah, what's this dilemma I've got myself into?

"Ofcourse no! I would never do that without asking you first, Brownies. I'm not dumb." And what he said was the truth, he wouldn't stay with her without permission. But his suitcases were ready to be carried in his car. Just in case.

"Good then. Now, if my mom asks—"

"So? Tell me where'd you guys meet?" Alisha walked in to the room with her arms around her chest.

"At a restaurant." Charles and Dariyah glanced at each other surprised at their same answers.

"Which restaurant?"

"Italian." They replied with the same answers again. They smirked knowing they'd convince Dariyah's mother.

"Eating what?" Alisha lifted her brow.

"Pizza."

"Pasta." Charles and Dariyah closed their eyes in frustration of ruining it last minute but they glanced back at each other and gave subtle nods before answering again.

"Eating Pasta and Pizza." Charles and Dariyah smiled like two kids.

Alisha sighed, giving up. "Fine, let's just eat."

•••

"You guys are not that good at lying as you think you are." Alisha chuckled, looking at Charles. It was just them in the living room, Dariyah was in her room taking a shower.
