CHAPTER THIRTY.
ABU DHABI.2 months. It's been 2 months since Dariyah was back to her usual life in Abu Dhabi and it was also 2 months since she's last heard from him.
Dariyah opened the door to her apartment and fell onto her couch, sighing in content. It was an exhausting day for her at work, she wanted to sleep as soon as she fell onto the couch, but then her phone alarm rang. It's Miami's race right now.
Dariyah quickly turned on her TV, the sleep now out of the window. Dariyah ordered some food for her and making a cup of coffee for herself.
It was the pre race show broadcasting, Dariyah freshened herself up before the race starts. Dariyah ran out of her bathroom after hearing her phone ring, already knowing who it was. She sighed when she found her suspicion to be right. It was him. Again.
Dariyah contemplated her decision whether to pick it up or ignore it as she has been doing for the past 2 months. Dariyah looked at the TV when she noticed a familiar figure being shown from the corner of her eye. And there he was, all suited up in red with his hair messy as usual, his subtle beard and the troubled look on his face as he looked down at his phone, nervously and biting his nails a little.
Watching him look so sad almost made her want to attend the call but before she could he was called by his trainer. Dariyah watched as he glanced at his phone screen for the last time before the determined persona replaced his saddened one. Dariyah kept her phone aside. This is for the best. For both of us.
Charles thought of their last meeting back at the Chennai Airport 2 months ago, with Pravin.
FLASHBACK
"Riyah?"
Dariyah couldn't understand her feeling as she saw him after 7 years. Was she excited, sad, angry, irritated or glad? She didn't know but the only thing she was sure of was the man who was standing beside her.
"What are you doing here?" Dariyah asked Pravin, not bothering with the greetings. Greetings are for respected people and he was far from it.
"Wow, not even a hi, how are you? I missed you?" Pravin walked up to them. Charles getting in between Dariyah and her ex. "I'm sorry, but who are you?" Pravin glared at Charles, not liking him around her.
"I'm Charles. Wish I could say "nice meeting you." But I know enough about you to never say that." Charles smirked at him.
"Let me guess. You've met those triplets? Are you seriously still hanging out with them? Despite me asking you—" Pravin took a deep breath, realising they weren't alone but with another guy. "If you'd excuse us I'd like to talk to Dariyah, alone."
"And why should I do as you say?" Dariyah folded her arms against her chest. "Last I checked, I wasn't your puppet anymore."
"Dariyah—"
"Charles, Isn't it getting late for your flight? Shall we head back to our friends?" Dariyah asked, still glaring at her ex.
"Of course, Brownies." Charles winked at Pravin before grabbing her hand and walking away beside her. But they were stopped when Pravin tugged on Dariyah's other hand to stop her from leaving.
