Avery
"Hey Ave!" Marcel calls out. "In here." I shout back, rolling out my dough. He walks in a minute later, looking around the room, before running a hand over his jaw. "What's wrong?" He looks over at me, taking a minute, before letting out a slow breath, placing his hands on the counter. "You haven't talked to Rebekah or Abbie?" I shake my head, slowly letting go over the roller and pushing some hair out of my face. "No. Why? Are they okay?" His eyes scan over me, before he leans up and nods.
"They're fine. I was just wondering. You've seemed to be better than how you showed up. I was just wondering if you talked to them." I shake my head again, going back to cut the dough. "No. I haven't talked to them. Are you sure you're okay? You seem tense?" He nods, placing his hands on his hips and looking around. When his eyes finally land back on me, they soften and I know he's lying.
"Maybe you should go back home. You seem to be doing better and this new guy sounds like he would be great for you." I lay out the last beignet before looking at him. "You're kicking me out." I joke, hoping to get his guard down. "No. You know I would never do that. I just think you'll be happier there." I stare at him, before huffing and putting the beignets in the oven. "You're acting weird and kicking me out. Talk to me." I walk over to him, but he just shakes his head.
"Go home and be happy. Call me if you need anything and feel free to come back whenever." I bite my bottom lip, hating he's hiding something from me and I'm so off my game, I can't tell what it is. "Fine. Those will take about an hour to cook and then they need to rest for 30 minutes. Don't over powder the like you used to as a boy and call me if you ever want to talk." I sigh, grabbing my bag and keys. I'm walking towards the door, when he calls my name.
"Hey, Avery?" I turn around, to find him standing in the living room, with his arms crossed over his chest. "I hope you meant everything you said." I slowly nod, before opening the door and leaving. He hopes I meant everything I said? What the bloody hell does that mean?!
