Abbie

"Are we allowed to ask what that was yesterday?" Scott lowers his voice. I look up at him and Stiles, sitting in the booth across from me. I decided I would take them out for food after school, before taking them back for their game. I may be invested in going to every game that I can.

"How's your hand?" I nod my head towards Stiles, putting a pause on answer Scott. Stiles holds his hand up, showing me his palm. "All good." His eyes flicker down to my mouth, making me smile. "Relax. They don't come out on command." His shoulders slump, making me shake my head and smile, as I look back at Scott.

"I'm a vampire." I start, taking a sip of my drink, before continuing. "I feed on blood, but I still enjoy food." He offers a small smile, so I continue. "I don't have to drink directly from people. I can drink blood bags or animals.. but that's not my thing." I cringe, taking a bite of my burger.

"What isn't your thing? Drinking from blood bags?"

"Drinking from animals. It's too.. woodsy for me." I wave my hand around. "I prefer an easier source of feeding." He nods but he swallows hard. "So you feed on humans?" I don't have to look at Stiles to see his face pale, or his heart racing.

"Relax, Stiles. I have control over my urges and I don't have the urge to sink my teeth into you." I glance over at him and wink. His body relaxes, before he tenses up again.

"But you would feed on me if you have to?" I look over at him and try to figure out what he means. There's a lot of different ways that could be answered, so I try to address the important ones.

"If it came down to me feeding on you, just know it was a last resort." He doesn't relax, so I try to explain further.

"I have multiple backup plans. I have a freezer in my basement filled with blood bags. If something were to happen to that, I have access to the hospital's supply." His shoulders relax a bit, but not as relaxed as I would like him to be.

"I would also feed on someone I don't care for. Maybe someone from another town or Peter." I joke. That seems to make him relax, cracking a smile. "But I would never feed on you just because." I add.

"You would be surprised how long it's been since I've fed from someone. It's not my style. Even when I can use my blood to heal them." I shrug, eating some of my fries.

"So if I ever needed to feed from you," I continued in their silence. "I wouldn't over-do it and if we're being technical, I'd only need a few drops." I lean up, grabbing one of his fingers and poking the tip with my own.

"So no more than a finger prick and I would be good as new."

"So blood will heal you? Is that why you're not worried about this Deadpool?" That's a loaded question and I can't even begin to explain that to them.

"Yes, blood can save me to an extent." I stick to the lie by omission already in place. "There are things that can kill me and if anyone with the knowledge of vampires and the Deadpool knows that, then I have something to worry about. Until then, I'm fine."

"What can kill you?" Stiles blurts. I tilt my head and smile. "Trying to kill me, Stiles?" His mouth pops open and closes, doing that a couple of times before shaking his head.

"I think he just wants to know what to watch out for to help you." Scott clarifies. I lean onto the table, looking between the both of them. "As much as I appreciate the concern, I'll be fine. I can handle anything that comes at me." It's not a lie and I don't need them risking their safety for me.

Even if I need to keep up this lie, I'll never put them in harms way because they thought I couldn't protect myself. I'd die for these boys and their friends. Clearly I've gotten attached.
