Abbie
Of course on the one day we take Rebekah's car to school, she makes plans right after school. I called Avery, but she didn't answer, probably napping like always. I refused to call my brothers, knowing they would lecture me the whole way about God knows what. That left Stefan. Luckily I caught him and Elena right as they were getting into his car.
I thanked Stefan for the ride, walking into the house. "Anyone home?" I called out, looking around before heading towards Elijah's study. I froze in my tracks, almost certain my heart quit beating the instant I saw the books in their hands. "W-what are y'all doing?" I whispered out, hoping to wake up from this nightmare.
Kol looked up from his book, with a mixed expression of horror and satisfaction. "Elijah found your porn stash on one of his shelves. We were comparing notes to see which one was dirtier." I gulped, not sure how, because my throat was drier than that Sahara.
Kol was reading Joey. A book that opened me up to dark mafia romances. It couldn't get any worse. My eyes flickered over to Klaus who was looking up at me but slowly looking away, shaking his head.
He was reading The Ritual, which was definitely filthier than Joey. I feel like dying of embarrassment would be the less painful way to go. I would even accept a dagger at this point, just to never have to look them in the eyes again. I hesitantly look over at Elijah, slapping my hand over my mouth.
Elijah's sitting there, reading Den of Vipers. Probably my favorite book I own, filled with reverse harem and Down. Right. Sinful. Things. There was no question that the loud thudding sound in the room was my heart, 2 seconds away from making an appearance on the floor.
The book that required me to take a cold shower every 5 chapters, was now being read by my tightly wound, virtuous, noble brother.. and he's bloody blushing. Screw the dagger, I'm.01 seconds away from dying of self combustion. I would set the books on fire, but I can see they've read enough, that'd it'd be better if I just light myself on fire. After this, I have no doubt that any of them wouldn't hesitate to light the match. I can never look them in the eyes after this.
I stood there staring at my brothers, who were no doubt still reading their books, completely unfazed by my frozen state. "I.. uhm -.." there was a knock at the door, allowing me to stop floundering and escape this nightmare. I rushed over to the door, swinging it open so fast it nearly flew across the foyer.
"Hey! Uhm.. let's leave." I rushed out, clearly avoiding any names and pulling him further from the house before they could hear Damon's voice. I rushed down the driveway, towards his car, as Avery came around hers.
"Abs, where are you going?! Why are you still in your cheer uniform?" Avery looked me over, before looking back at the house. I widened my eyes, pushing Damon to go towards his side of the car. "They're reading." I huffed, swinging the passenger door of Damon's car open. Avery laughs and scrunches her eyebrows.
"What about it? Elijah reads all the time and Klaus likes to read occasionally, especially if it helps him kill someone. I would understand why Kol reading is scary but maybe he'll actually learn something." Avery rambled, only adding to my anxiety.
"Avery!" I whisper yelled, looking at her with a knowing look. "Elijah is reading.." I took a deep breath, trying to slow my heart rate back down. "Elijah is reading Den of Vipers." Her pupils turned into black saucers as she looked at the house and then back to me, repeating that for about a minute before stopping.
"Fuck. We have to go to your house." Avery stated, looking at Damon. "What's so bad about this Den of Vipers?" Damon asked, looking at both of us. "I'll explain later. Right now we need to go." I stated, as Avery nodded, getting back in her car. Damon hesitated for a minute before getting in and driving off.
