Avery Lorelei Harris, born and raised in Peuschen, Germany, in 1289. She lived a simple life. She grew up with one older brother and a younger sister who died shortly after birth. Something her parents never quite recovered from.At 19, she couldn't find a silver lining in life. She did work around the house, and helped her mother cook and tend their farm. It wasn't anything like the life Avery had dreamed of. She wanted to travel and meet a boy or lots of boys.
Just when she had enough, and didn't know if she could live another day in this life, she met her best friend.
It's not like she set out to make friends, or even wanted any, but she couldn't stop from being drawn to her.
Her dress was recently cleaned and pressed, if not new. Her hair was down in ringlets in a hairstyle Avery loved but never could do herself. A silk blue bow to match, tied it out of her face, but a few pieces still escaped.
It wasn't her beauty that drew Avery in. It was her bright smile that she gave away so easily and the light in her bright blue eyes. She was the very definition of what Avery wanted to be and feel.
She didn't know it then, but she and Abbie would become fast friends and build a lifetime's worth of memories in the 3 months Abbie was there.
Avery didn't want to lose the only friend she ever had, but Abbie had no choice. Avery couldn't even begin to understand why, but she would soon find out and not only would that information change her life, but what Abbie left behind with a clear message, would.
"I've met many people in my lifetime, but yours has been the most meaningful. This is for when you're ready to start living your dreams. Sometimes you have to die to truly start living."
Abbie left that day and took the warmth and happiness with her. It was roughly a week before Avery realized what her words truly meant and that was the same day she drank the vial Abbie gave her and ended it all.
