Avery

I can't get the conversation with Marcel out of my head. He was clearly upset or mad about something but wouldn't tell me. I didn't expect him to tell me everything but kicking me out was definitely not something he would normally do. Maybe I should've stayed to get answers out of him. Was he doing it to protect me? What would I need protecting from? I would know if someone was after me. The only other option would be the Mikaelson's being here but they have no reason to come back.

They have no idea Marcel is alive and they burned any ties they had here. Klaus doesn't have a witch to track me. Well he does, but she wouldn't do it without warning me. At least I hope she will. Either way, Marcel is acting weird and I'm not leaving till I figure out why. I don't like secrets and if there's something big about to happen, I want to know about it.

The best place to get answers is the French Quarter. The heart of New Orleans. The place to get anything you need from spices, art, palm readings and whispers of war between the factions. The same quarter which used to house all the factions, are now ruled by one, who are controlling the witches and kill werewolves on sight. It's a power grab Klaus tried to accomplish a time or 2 but never succeeded. Marcel definitely learned from his mistakes.

Knowing that werewolves aren't allowed and would definitely avoid falling victim to Marcel's night walkers. Seeing one sitting on a bench alone sends up major red flags. Sending werewolves is an instinct you get with becoming a vampire. They're our natural enemies, deadly during a full moon. So it's no surprise a group of vamps are popping up and surrounding her. Poor thing doesn't even know she's about to end up being dinner, over whatever she's holding in that vial.

She finally notices the group closing in on her and a flash of fear clouds her eyes. Big mistake. Night walkers love a good struggle but it's the fear they feed off of. She jumps up from her spot, her hand covering her stomach, before dropping down to her side. A flash of Deja vu hits me. Not with this girl.. but Abbie. At that dinner with Lucien. She held her stomach as she told us about the baby. Like she was trying to protect something that wasn't even there anymore.

They grab her but she's quick to fight back, snapping the guy's arm. The group starts attacking her from all angles and I can't stand back and watch her get ripped limb from limb. I vamp over, snapping necks, ripping out hearts and vocal chords. One gets a grasp on her throat, making her cry out. I quickly grab his wrist, twist his wrist and shoving his hand through his chest cavity. Wrapping his fingers around his own heart, I yank it out, enjoying the smell of fear on him. God, I've missed this. Kol would've loved that move.

I swear they're respawning faster than I can kill them and that's saying a lot since this was mine and Kol's leisurely sport. I'm focusing on the one's getting close enough to harm her, only focusing on the ones stupid enough to attack me from behind. I don't even know this girl and I'm risking my life to protect her and the possibility of her being pregnant. The same way I wish I was there for Abbie. The way she should've been protected.

The body's drop quicker around us and it's not till I rip the last guy's heart out through his back, I notice the other person standing there with a bloody heart. A heart I'm sure she wishes is mine. "What the bloody hell are you doing here?!" She grinds out, stepping closer to us. "Me?! What are you doing here?" I answered back, fearing this was Marcel's secret. "I'm talking to Hayley. I don't care why you're here.. you need to leave." I bite the inside of my cheek, ignoring her harsh tone.

"I'm here to take care of the problem." Hayley answers. Rebekah straightens, looking over at me, before the girl. I look at the vial in her hand, grabbing it to inspect the label closer. "Wolfsbane." I look up at her, my eyebrows pinching together. "This is toxic to wolves. You should know this being one. That's why they came after you tonight." I hold up the bottle, hoping she'll see her mistake. "Leave Avery!" Rebekah sighs, not bothering to look at me. I look over at her and I bite my tongue. I'm tired of people pushing me away when it's convenient for them.
