Avery

"Aves!" A harsh whisper tugs me out of my dreams, making me roll over, trying to get away from it. "Avery!" The whisper becomes a growl, but clearer that Sarah is the one making such a fuss. I roll over, barely cracking my eyes, before jerking back when I see how close she is to my face. Her eyes are wide but they shine like she's found a lost puppy.

"Why is there an insanely hot guy in your kitchen cooking breakfast, shirtless and with a smile that did very, very bad things to me." Oh. That puppy. I roll my eyes, throwing the covers off of me and getting out of bed. "That's Damon. Don't pay him any attention and for the love of God, don't fall for his charm." I throw my hair up in a bun, turning back to see her poking her bottom lip out.

"Don't make that face either." I point at her, walking towards the door. "I'm saving you from yourself and him." She huffs, following me down into the kitchen but replacing her pout with a smile. This girl just won't listen. "Morning!" Damon calls, flashing Sarah a sideways grin. These 2 are unbelievable. "Hey. Why are you up so early?" I ignore both of them, trying to stop whatever is happening here.

"I was hungry and what I was looking for, wasn't here." He glances over his shoulder to Sarah, before turning back towards the stove. "Unless she's for me?" I glance over at Sarah, who's staring all dreamy at Damon's back. If only she knew he wanted to eat her and not in a way she would enjoy. "Damon! This is Sarah." He turns around, as Sarah's eyes light up. "Sarah, this is Damon. A.. someone I knew back home." Damon rolls his eyes, before pushing off the counter, leaning onto it in front of Sarah.

Her heart starts racing and the smile slowly growing on his face tells me he hears it too. "Forget anything Avery told you. I like to make my own first impression." He flashes her a half smile and it's impossible to miss the gasp that left her lips, as she stares into his eyes. Trying one last time to save her from herself, I turn towards her. "Where's John B this morning?" Her head snaps over towards me, her eyes wide before she tilts her head towards Damon and forces a smile as she whispers.

"What are you doing?" She hisses through her teeth, making me smile. Sarah quickly turns back towards Damon, her smile more pleasant as she says. "Ignore her, she tends to day drink and clearly she started early today. Not the smartest decision." Sarah rolls her eyes, as she waves her hand in the air and smiles again, falling back into her trance. Damon smiles back at her, before standing up and shrugging.

"Trust me. I know all about Avery's bad decisions. She's been making a big one for a long time now." Damon exaggerates. "I'm not the only one." I sass back, sitting up straighter in my chair. "I remember a mistake like mine. Very similar actually." I give him a fake smile, as he clenches his jaw and spins back towards the stove.

"Anyways. I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out tonight." Sarah turns towards me. "We're going to the boneyard for a kegger." She adds. "Isn't there a storm coming in?" I give her a look but she's quick to add. "Not for a few more days. It's totally safe to go out today." I think about it and something is screaming not to.

It could be because it could lead to more drama, because let's be real, I've known Sarah for a couple of weeks and this girl seems to thrive on it. It could also be because it means leaving Damon here alone and I know he'll go through my things. I have nothing to hide but it doesn't mean I want him poking around.

"Maybe next time. Damon doesn't like being alone." I lie, praying he goes along with it. He snorts and I roll my eyes. He spins around with a smile telling me he knows what he's doing. "Go. I'll leave you some dinner out for when you get back." My eyes narrow at him, before I shake my head and look at Sarah.

"Fine but I reserve the right to leave whenever." I look back over at Damon and smile. "Damon will also be there." His grin tells me it didn't have the effect on him like I intended. Sarah's smile brightens, as her eyes shamelessly rake over him.
