Abbie
"Good morning, Abigail." Elijah calls out as soon as I enter the kitchen. He does it every morning and every morning I want to sling my plate at him to show him how much I love being here.
"Morning." I mumble, going over to the island to make a plate. "We're going out today. Why don't you come with us?" Hayley offers with a smile. I look at her through my lashes, wondering if Elijah or Klaus would dagger me for throwing my plate at her.
"I'll pass. I'm not a babysitter." I drop my eyes, finishing up making my plate. "Plus, you have a bigger target on your back out there than I do living here with Klaus." I smile sweetly, going over to the table. "I think you should get out of the house for a bit. You haven't left since you came back." Elijah states. "Well how else would you and Nik micromanage me?" I raise an eyebrow. Rebekah snorts, getting a side glance from Elijah.
"Go with them today. Just try to stay out of trouble." I roll my eyes, grabbing my plate when I hear Klaus coming downstairs. I pass him as he enters, seeing an opportunity to piss him off. "Elijah's kicking me out for the day. Will you sign my permission slip?" I smile over my shoulder as his eyes narrow. I turn to face forward, going back up to my room.

"I'll take a glass of wine. Thank you." I hand the waitress the menu back, resting my arms on the sides of the patio chair. Rebekah insisted on lunch even though I practically begged her to go home after the first shop. I know what Elijah's trying to do. He's trying to make me get along with Hayley. Honestly, he's making a good effort. He gave us his card and no limit. After 2 hours and more shopping bags than we can carry, I'm not having fun anymore.
We went into one shop that had baby clothes and while Hayley and Rebekah dotted over every onesie, I fought the swirl of emotions brewing inside of me. The ones I thought I let go of forever ago, came back, hitting me like a semi. This should've been me. Zeke and I. Picking out baby clothes, nursery colors and designs. I should've been checking my bump in every mirror or window we passed. It could've been me.
"Can I just ask.." Hayley's voice pulls me out of my spiral. I look over at her, she's eyeing me like she doesn't know how to talk to me. I raise my eyebrows, urging her to continue before I become even more impatient. "Is your problem really with me or with Klaus?" I roll my eyes, biting back the anger clawing at my throat. If only she fucking knew why I hate everything about all this.
"Abbie's just adjusting to being back home." Rebekah offers, giving her a reassuring smile. "Don't speak for me." I bite out. "I'm perfectly capable of answering for myself.." I turn my head towards Hayley. "When it's something you need to know and even then, I doubt you do. Klaus and Elijah have gone out of their way to accommodate you." I snap. Her eyes narrow at me and I wish she would give me a reason to ruin Klaus' future like he did mine.
"What exactly did I do to you? Didn't take your room or eat your cereal?" She teases. My fists ball, fighting the urge to release the anger building inside me. "Like I said. I'm not your concern and you damn sure aren't mine. Don't let my brother's poor attempt at trying to get us to bond, as a sign that I like you." I lean up, placing my arms on the table to lean closer to her. "I assure you. I don't like anyone in this family and I'm just biding my time till I leave again." She lets out a slow breath, leaning back in her chair.
"For someone who hates her family, you sure do love spending their money."
"For someone not even a part of said family, you sure have spent just as much and live rent free and eat all of the food." I snap back. "If you're looking for an easy check when your baby is born, let me save you the trouble." I sit up, fiddling with the cloth napkin in my lap. "No amount of money my family gives you, it won't be enough. Raising something Klaus is a part of is a death sentence. He'll dip the first chance he gets and then you're left with a moody, cursed teenager and no help." I sip my water, before setting it down and grabbing my phone.
