Avery

It had been a week since everything about Abbie, Damon and Stefan came out. Klaus and Elijah forcing her to compel them and having a witch wipe her memory of them. The worst part of it all was my part in it. I vervained her after she compelled them. She was obviously upset with what her brothers made her do, so I vervained her to not make matters worse.

I also never told her about that night. For months after, it haunted me about keeping it from her, but Klaus reassured me it was for her safety.

The whole reason we even had to go for Abbie was because there were reports of animal attacks in Mystic Falls. We went and gathered information, seeing how much the town knew. They knew of vampires, the town practically bathed and ate vervain, making Abbie leave was the only choice we had. We knew these reports would draw Mikael here. It was only a matter of time.

Even after I explained that to Abbie, she still slammed the door in my face. At least she opened the door. Klaus and Elijah wouldn't even know she was alive if it wasn't for Rebekah telling them. From what we've been told, she hasn't left her house, refusing to see anyone but Kol and Rebekah. Even then she barely acknowledges them.

I practically begged Lucien to let me know when she was expecting Rebekah, so I could get there before to state my case. It worked until she saw me. She flashed me her yellow eyes, making me want to back away and try another time, making me wish I brought some wolfsbane and vervain to help. Down side of dealing with a tribrid, her witchy side would be unaffected.

Even with 2 of her sides weakened, Abbie can perform difficult spells under extreme circumstances, she practiced and trained for situations like that, so she could get herself out of high stress situations. I couldn't have been prouder of her, proving to her family that she was stronger than they believed. I guess part of me thought that too. That's why I kept this secret for so long, right?

I finally forced Rebekah to pass along a message to Abbie, asking her to meet me for lunch one day so we could talk. I promised not to make any excuses, just wanting to apologize in person.

Abbie arrived a couple of minutes after I did, taking a seat in the booth across from me. "Hey, Abs." I smiled, getting a quick, halfhearted one in return. "Look, I'm sorry, okay? I don't agree with what we did and I'm sorry it's taken us this long to tell you." I rushed out, watching her eyes scan the menu. "Can you at least look at me and act like you're listening?!" I huffed.

She looks up from her menu, before closing it and setting it down. "I am listening to you, Aves. I forgive you." She sighs. My eyebrows scrunch together at her answer. "Yeah, I'm not stoked about how all this happened or whatever, but I understand why you didn't go up against them. So as long as there's no more secrets, can we move on?" I quickly nod, picking my menu back up.

"So how much do you know?" Abbie asked, not looking up from her menu. "I know you and Damon were together, you and Stefan were friends and you were protecting Katherine." She nodded but closed her menu. She looked up at me, her blue eyes brighter than normal, clearly she was still upset.

"Abs, please don't cry. We don't have to talk about it anymore." She shook her head, wiping away at her eyes. "I'm fine. I just -.." she blew out a breath of air, blinking and looking away. "I'm fine. I promise. We should order." I nod, lowering my head to look at the menu, checking on her every few minutes.
