After what felt like months of being on edge with Klaus and practically moving into Rebekah's room, I finally get to wake up in my own bed. I roll over to face Klaus, seeing him still asleep and shirtless from the night before. I snuggled in closer to him, just enjoying it being us again. Well at least till we leave the room.
Abbie moved back in a week ago. While everyone was happy that she was back, it's been like walking on eggshells, at least when she's in a room with Elijah and/or Klaus. Elijah acknowledges Abbie, tries to talk to her, but only gets a quick answer or a shrug in response. Her and Klaus on the other hand, have resorted to acting like the other doesn't exist. It needs to stop.
"You're overthinking again, Love." Klaus murmurs. I look up to see his eyes still closed, but his arm is resting behind his head. "I'm not overthinking. I'm just regular thinking." I sassed back, making him chuckle. "What's bothering you today?" He asked, rolling over on top of me. I let out a sigh, running my fingers through his hair, as we looked at each other.
"You and Abbie really need to work things out between y'all." He huffs, rolling out of bed so quickly, I barely had time to realize what he was doing. "Klaus.. I'm not trying to argue, but this has gone on long enough. Just go down there and apologize." His head whips around so fast, it took his body a minute to catch up. "Mikael was coming after her. I risked my life going back there to save her. I owe her nothing."
"You wiped her memories and forced her to do the same to them. You're just as guilty as she is. All she did was find happiness.. you should've been happy for her!" I stood up off the bed, slipping into my clothes. "Maybe she should stop trying to find happiness in a boy. Obviously, her track record with them is spotty at best." I turned around to face him, straightening out my tank top.
"She's happy until you show up and drag her away." I go to walk out the room, but his hand holds the door closed before I could even open it. "I did it for her protection. She can hate me all she wants, as long as she's safe. You want to find a reason to hate me, feeling guilty because of what we did. You know as much as I do, we did the right thing."
He stares at me, waiting for my response. Part of me knew he was right, doing what we did was for Abbie's safety. So why was the guilt eating me alive? I shook the thoughts out of my head, looking back at him.
"Please move." I spoke firmly, waiting for him to move. Once he moved, we both went down to the kitchen, finding everyone but Abbie there. A few minutes later she walked in, headphones in her ears. She started to make a plate, when Kol tapped her on her shoulder. She plucked both out of her ear, continuing to make her plate.
"What?" She asked, briefly looking up at Kol. "Elijah was talking to you." He nodded his head over, making her look up at him. "Will you be joining us for dinner?" She shook her head, grabbing her plate and bringing it to the table. "Can't I have dinner plans." Everyone brushed it off, knowing she was doing this to avoid Klaus and Elijah. Klaus decided to quit ignoring it.
"With who?" Klaus asked, only for Abbie to ignore him and continue to scroll on her phone while she ate. Klaus looked over at me and Rebekah. "Abbie, who are you meeting?" I asked. "You're not a Mikaelson, so you don't get to know that." She stated, popping a strawberry in her mouth, not looking up from her phone. We turned to Rebekah, who rolled her eyes.
"Abs,-.."
"Not my mother." She deadpanned, still scrolling. A couple of seconds later, she locks her phone, looking at Klaus and Elijah. "Not my father either." She went back to eating, leaving Klaus to seethe. "If you're going to act like this ungrateful brat, then you can leave." Everyone looks at her, watching her expression stay the same, back to scrolling on her phone.
"If you refuse to talk to us, then get out." She continues to ignore him, making him grip his glass so hard it shatters. "Abigail, can I speak to you in the study?" Her eyes meet Elijah's, maintaining eye contact for a minute before going back to her phone. That made Klaus lose it. He stood up abruptly, resting his hands flat on the table.
"Your stubbornness is what got you into all this. Every single guy should thank me for saving them from you." He barked, making her stop scrolling, but still not looking at him. "Dead, forgotten and gone." Is all she says before resuming. "No doubt you'll be under somebody else by the end of the week." He retorted, sitting down.
Right at this very moment, I couldn't tell who was under whose skin more. My money was on Abbie though. A couple more minutes pass, everyone eating in silence, not wanting to add to the tension slowly growing thicker. Abbie got up, grabbing her empty plate from the table.
"I expect you back in this house by 7 for dinner." Klaus demanded, not lifting his head to look at her. She briefly looked at the table, with a smile I knew all too well. One that never failed to piss Klaus off. "Can't make it. I plan on putting out after my date tonight." She smiles over her shoulder before walking out.
Being met with Klaus' glowing eyes when I looked over at him, told me that Abbie won this round. I wanted to laugh so bad, but the 3 of us had to fight off our laughs, not wanting to face the wrath of Klaus or Elijah right now.
