Avery's POV

As the sounds of merriment and laughter enveloped the sandoval's home, I felt a sudden urge na puntahan ang kwarto ni Tyler sa second floor.

The wine glass I cradled had grown warm in my hand, its contents dwindling as I climbed the stairs, wondering where Tyler had disappeared to amidst the festive cheer.

A soft smile curved my lips at the sight of our wedding photos, carefully arranged in a corner. Lumapit ako duon at hinawakan iyon isa isa.

I also saw his baby pictures. Even at a young age, he was already handsome. There were also pictures of him with Thalia.

When I reached the corner shielded by bookshelves, I saw a large airplane toy hanging from the ceiling. There were also small airplanes displayed on the glass shelves attached to the wall.

Mahilig ba siya sa airplanes?

Stepping out to the balcony through the glass door, a rush of cool air greeted me, accompanied by the breathtaking sight of twinkling lights adorning the Sandoval mansion grounds.

"Wow, it's beautiful here."

Nasan kana ba Tyler?

Raising the glass wine to my lips, I took a sip, trying to calm the tremble in my hand.

Just then, my phone buzzed insistently. Dr. Ramirez's name flashed on the screen, and my heart skipped a beat bago ko binuksan ang text message niya.

From: Dr. Ramirez
*Good evening, Avery. I wanted to discuss the results of your recent MRI at the hospital. We've identified an abnormality in your brain, and upon further examination with Dr. Lao, it appears to be a case of brain tumor. We recommend seeking a second opinion to confirm this diagnosis. I understand my message caught you off guard, especially on this Christmas Eve. I just want to assure you that the dizziness and headaches you've been experiencing are related to your condition. Please take care of yourself. Please let me know when you're available to discuss this further.*

His words seemed surreal, incomprehensible.

The glass wine slipped from my fingers, shattering as it hit the floor. Maski ako nagulat ng bumagsak ito.

Tears welled up, streaming down my cheeks.

"I-i have a brain tumor," I almost whispered.

Downstairs, the festivities continued, the countdown to Christmas drawing near amidst the chaos.

Nakatayo lang ako sa balcony, stunned, grappling with the weight of the diagnosis. How could this be happening?

I saw someone standing there. Hingal na hingal.
