The Great Hall was abuzz with excitement as the students gathered for dinner. There had been whispers and rumors about a special announcement, and the anticipation was palpable. Bellarose, however, found herself feeling unusually detached from the excitement around her. She couldn't shake the confusion she felt about her newfound feelings and what they meant.

As everyone settled into their seats, Dumbledore rose to speak, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Good evening, students. As you all know, the Triwizard Tournament is an event filled with traditions, and this year we will be continuing one of the most beloved traditions of all—the Yule Ball."

The hall erupted in cheers and applause. Students were already discussing potential dates and plans for the evening. Bellarose forced a smile, trying to match the enthusiasm of her friends, but inside she felt a mix of uncertainty and reluctance.

"The Yule Ball will take place on Christmas Eve," Dumbledore continued. "It is a chance for us to celebrate together and enjoy a night of dancing, music, and festivity. I encourage all of you to participate and make it a night to remember."

As the excitement buzzed around her, Bellarose felt a pang of anxiety. She glanced over at Fleur, who seemed to be talking animatedly with her friends. The sight made Bellarose's heart flutter, but it also reminded her of the complexity of her feelings.

The next morning, Bellarose was making her way to breakfast when she overheard a group of older Slytherins talking. One of them, a particularly unpleasant boy named Marcus, sneered as she passed.

"Who would want to go to the ball with someone with a scar like that?" Marcus said loudly, causing his friends to snicker.

Bellarose's cheeks burned with embarrassment and anger, but she kept walking, refusing to give them the satisfaction of a reaction.

The following day, Bellarose noticed Marcus looking unusually miserable. His hair had completely fallen out, and he was constantly sniffling with a runny nose. Whispers circulated that he had been cursed, but no one knew who had done it. Bellarose couldn't help but feel a slight satisfaction, suspecting that someone had stood up for her. She caught a glimpse of Pansy smirking subtly, and a flicker of understanding passed between them.

Later that week, Bellarose was sitting alone in the library, surrounded by stacks of books and parchment. She was lost in her thoughts, trying to focus on her studies but finding it difficult with the upcoming Yule Ball occupying her mind. The quiet rustling of pages and the soft whispers of other students created a calming atmosphere, but it did little to ease her inner turmoil.

As she turned a page in her textbook, she heard a familiar voice. "Hey, Bellarose, can we talk for a moment?"

Bellarose looked up to see Cho Chang standing there, a hesitant smile on her face. "Sure, Cho. What's up?" she asked, curiosity piqued.

Cho glanced around, as if making sure no one was listening, before sitting down across from Bellarose. "I wanted to ask you something. I've been thinking about asking Cedric to the Yule Ball. Would that be okay with you?

Bellarose was taken aback by the question, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Why would you need my permission?"

Cho sighed, looking a bit uncomfortable. "Well, Cedric had a crush on you last year. I just wanted to make sure there were no hard feelings."

Bellarose blinked in surprise, her mind reeling. "Cedric had a crush on me? I had no idea," she said, her voice tinged with disbelief. The idea seemed so foreign to her, almost laughable. Cedric was handsome, popular, and everything she felt she was not.
