A heavy silence fell through the arena, the only shouting still from my family. The entire public went quiet, including sir, who had so far been commenting on quite the lot. Changmin couldn't say a word, solely staring at the heart he was holding. These were the seconds before all hell would break loose. Nobody seemed to be able to move even an inch, as everyone awaited what would happen soon after. My eyes shifted to Hajoon, who most likely was the one to bring hell here. You could see the disbelief in his eyes, like he hadn't yet processed what just happened.

It didn't take long for rage to take over him though, for as soon as he had come to his senses, Changmin was on the floor, with Hajoon smashing his fist into Changmin's face over and over. The human-like skin on Changmin's was even starting to fade, as a silver glow had started to peek out from underneath. Hajoon's cries filled the entire arena, as the spectators watched breathlessly. Not a word came out of Hajoon's mouth, solely screaming as he kept on hitting his former companion over and over again.

"You killed her, you killed her, you killed her," Hajoon started to repeat over and over again, never stopping the beating. Even his own fists were starting to show the steel he was made of, but none of that seemed to matter. He was in a complete state rage, unable to stop, until Changmin's body too was laying lifelessly on the floor. Hyunjin, who had kept completely still all this time, had scooched over to me, his arm in front of me if Hajoon's rage would turn to us.

And yet, what seemed like a most logical reaction, never came to life. Hajoon fell on his knees, looking at his malfunctioning hands, the sparks flying all around them. He slowly crawled towards Da-hye, placing her head on his lap as he stroke her hair. "She's dead...," he stated, as if to still convince himself of all that had happened. "Now how am I supposed to live..." Hyunjin had slowly gotten up, pulling me up along with him, preparing for the worst. Hajoon turned to us, the complete lack of liveliness sending a chill down my spine. He was the one alive, and yet he seemed like he was the one that had already passed away. At least all emotions other than emptiness had.

"Hyunjin...," he spoke, nearly pleading as he spoke his name. "Please, just kill me too. I know you can do it, you already did so once. So please, please kill me again. I don't want to live without her by my side." A black liquid streamed down his cheeks, shaking his head as he shoved a dagger Hyunjin's way. His focus once again shifted to Da-hye, already accepting these were probably his last moments. My eyes slowly went to Hyunjin, trying to read the look on his face. It was stern, and cold, but determined for sure.

He slowly ducked, picking the dagger off the ground. I played my left hand on his shoulder, asking him whether this was smart with just one glance. Much to my surprise, Hyunjin's cold gaze turned into a soft smile, his right hand cupping my cheek as he placed a kiss on my temple. He gave me a simple nod before his hand left my body, slowly walking up to Hajoon, crouching down right in front of him. With one sharp stab, the dagger was right in Hajoon's heart. Hajoon smiled, looking up at Hyunjin. "Thank you," he muttered, right before falling down completely.

After only another second of complete silence, the spectators bursted out of shouting, yelling, whistling and clapping. Even sir finally spoke up again, still laughing in amazement. "I've wondered for so long how this would go, but you truly seem to amaze me every time! Have you all seen that, my dear audience? That was magnificent!" Hyunjin turned back to me, slowly walking up to me as he engulfed me in his arms. "Thank you Y/N... thank you..." he muttered, sniffles audible right next to me. My arms made their way around his waist, hugging him back tightly.

Though it for a second felt like we'd already completely won, the increased yelling on the other side of the arena proved up wrong. I knew that if I didn't do something soon, dad would find a way to stop the two from fighting, turn them against me instead. He always had. No matter what happened, dad made it out to be my fault. This too, I was sure he was talking into them that I was the problem for getting between them, and to just simply share me again like they always had. After all, above all else, it was their respect and amazement for their father they had that had always converted them to doing things his way.

Maybe that's why I couldn't let go of Hyunjin right now. Because I knew that as soon as I got out of his arms, I would have to face them again, something I had put off all this time. After all, what use would it be. My dad would just find me again, do things even worse than I could possibly imagine. So why was Sir making me do this? Why would I have to go through all this, if I knew I was destined to fail anyways? There was nothing I could do against them. Very soon, my brother's would once again turn on me, and I'd be defenseless against them once again. My breathing was getting heavier, as I felt the tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't do this... I couldn't. I really couldn't.

So why was it, that as soon as I had turned around, Jeong-ho's body was on the floor, with Jeong-hui shaking, crawling backwards as our father inched closer with a knife right above his head.
