It sadly wasn't hard to guess Felix's death was up next, watching him get into what seemed like something from a game with Chan behind a control panel. "Must you really show me all of these?" I asked, unsure whether anyone would even hear me. "Oh why of course I must," Sir answered in the video. Was this a live recording from somewhere closeby? "How else could I possibly tell you everything you need to know before leaving this place?" He let out a sigh, like it was something I should have simply known. "Anyways, to make you understand this a bit better, when I got all your applications after last year's edition, I had done a lot of background check on each and every one of you..." Sir started, as I watched Felix's surroundings starting to move.
"I made sure to have people tail each and every one of you, as well as make sure to know your every single thing. It truly was interesting to see what everyone was hiding behind those pretty smiles, you know." As I watched Felix eat what seemed like a mushroom, the mood shifted quickly, even though Chan didn't seem to notice, too engrossed in winning. "You see, I found out Felix used to be abused by his mother. Badly, that is. So bad, that he poisoned her with a simple mushroom, enough to kill her right before he joined this little game. I had to be honest, watching him pick up that green ice popsicle stick. That was all completely based on luck, yet it played out perfectly for me!"
Unable to even move past the fact that Felix had apparently just been killed the same way he killed his mother, the screen soon transitioned to the next scene, rather than the next death, showing me and Jut. "I know this isn't exactly one of your teammates, but as someone who made this victory possible, I couldn't just leave him out," sir shrugged, as I saw the familiar scene right in front of me. "Y/N, I'm going to tell you a secret. A secret to get you out for good," I heard Jut start off. I swallowed hard, knowing exactly what happened after that. "You can still win this fucked up game. I know I could get killed if anyone knew I was telling you this, but trust me on this. You remember that weird chick from the beginning, right? Ellie or something?" I could see myself nodding, still trying to take it all in. "Ever wondered how she was still so cheery after being the sole survivor?"
I watched myself move in closer, as if it would help me hear him better. "Her version of the game was very different apparently, but in her version of the game, she found hidden clues that lead to her discovering there was still a way to get prize money, even if one of your teammates died." I listened breathlessly, curiosity and hope making their way. "How?" I asked quietly, desperately wanting the same. "It turned out, she was the only one left in the game in the end, which resulted in her winning all the money. If I heard correctly, she even killed her last teammates herself to get the prize money. If you could pull it off too.... I think you could still win this game."
"How... how do you know any of this?" I heard myself ask him, watching him act like he held my future in his hands. "I overheard the 'boss' on a phone call, just before you got here. He was talking to the actual man up there," he said, looking up at the sky, or ceiling rather. "Oh, and don't worry about the cameras and wires, I disabled them just now," was the last thing I heard Jut say before this video clip too started to fade. So much for disabling all camera's, I figured. "You know," sir continued, "you make one measly call to one of the top mafia bosses in the area that you hired because you just had to tell someone about how great of a genius you are, and not even he could keep one of his men from overhearing. You'd think those you hire would be more professional, but it turns out I should have kept a closer eye on things."
I didn't even dare to ask what would happen to Jut, but I didn't dare to have any hope for him. Hearing that irritated tone in Sir's voice, it told me all I needed to know for his chance of survival. He let out a grunt, moving on to the next video. "Anyways, onto Minho and Jisung. Thankfully things are finally speeding up a little here, you guys were truly slow at times." The video switched to the jungle once again, yet a different one this time. "Did you know the fight started because of you?" Sir asked, showing us the video replay we saw that day too. "You did right? Not only from the video I showed, but even before that." He clicked his tongue. "Such a bad girl for going eaves dropping."
As soon as I saw Minho turn around on screen, where first the video had cut off, it now continued, showing a wider version where I was standing at the side. "Still, hearing you lie to Hyunjin, saying you killed them... don't you think that was a bit harsh?" Sir asked as the video clearly showed me running up to them as soon as I could, trying my hardest to pull them out, yet failing miserably, nearly falling in myself. "I think the crying at least shows you didn't actually mean to kill them, no matter what you made Hyunjin believe. I thought after Jut's confession you'd go all out, but it turns out you're still way softer than I thought you were." Watching myself as I let out a silent cry on my way back to the camp, without the two other boys left behind. Watching Jeongin shown sitting by the door after still killed me inside, knowing they weren't coming back.
"So then, as we continue, I truly am curious when the killer switch finally flipped."
