The video cut off abruptly, clearly showing this was all montaged right as they showed it. I could hear the door opening behind me, nearly making me throw off my headset. "Well then, it's good to see our final winner up close," a familiar voice said, making me look back to see sir standing right behind me, with two men by his side, dressed in all black. "I just had to congratulate you in person. I just had to see for myself who made it out of here."
I felt speechless, unsure of what to say or do. Cursing out the man that still had to give me a billion won probably wouldn't be the smartest idea. Still, the amount of questions I had for this man prohibited me from answering anything to appease him. "It was all preplanned, wasn't it?" As I heard a small chuckle behind that annoying mask of his, I took it as a sign I was along the right way. "I mean, this entire thing had to have cost a lot of money, and took a ton of time to build right? Both from the robots alone, you couldn't have made it for all the girls at the beginning too, so you had to have known I would join the guys from the start. You had to have planned for us to go there with the nine of us already, but why?"
It stayed quiet for a few seconds, only encouraging me to continue my rant. "It's not even just the robots. We took basically a month to get there, you could have made those in the meantime, but even the other zones were all based on us, on our personalities, let alone trauma's. There had to have been so much planning, stalking, whatever involved, I don't possibly understand why you would put in so much effort. Even with the crazy amount of money this entire shitshow cost, there's no way you could have earned back that money just from the donations. I know you're probably insane already if you put this entire thing up, but why go so fa-" I slowly quiet down, realizing the one thing I wasn't supposed to do, I just did.
And yet, to my surprise, he didn't become angry at all. No, he bursted out in laughter for some reason. "Oh, you truly always had a keen eye," he laughed. "But to hear you this outspoken? Those guys must have really changed you in there for you to suddenly be so rebellious." I let out a small scoff, trying to hide it as I muttered a "how would you know" under my breath. Not quiet enough apparently, as he already answered. "Oh hun, I know a lot more than you think. Way more than I could find out about those guys over there. Still, I was surprised about how easy it was to learn of some of them. Some I even only had to follow around for a day to know all I needed about them."
"But why? Why us? Why not the other girls? There was a 50/50 chance at the beginning, but there had to have been a reason on why you didn't choose them." Sir let out a short sigh, clearly wanting to get the question round over with at this point. "For someone so smart I thought you had it figured out already." He took a deep breath, leaning back against the door. "Y/N, I have had my eyes on you for the longest time, enough to go as far as to say I organised this all for you. To see how you would do in a new environment, to see if you would be ready for the world out there. I instructed Elle in the beginning to choose you specifically with those boys, as I couldn't make it too easy on you now. You're right, everything was preplanned, and it was all for you."
"Up to how far did you even go?" I continued, in desperate need for answers. "As far as to instruct my classmates to send me here? Was it you that got the stupid idea in my mind to even join this? Surely, I'm glad I'll finally get to escape home with the prize money, but going through you have put me through... it's insane. It's too much, even for someone as damaged as me! So why? Are you obsessed with me or something?!" Sir pushed his back off the door, leaning in to inch closer. "I think it's about time you start realizing who I am, Y/N."
"Yes, it was me that oh so conveniently let the add pop up at your school, your class specifically. Those girls were all insane, I knew it wouldn't be hard to get them to try to join. You wanting to join in was only a matter of time. I just had to make sure you were ready before I sent you into the real world out there. Why do you think I let you go through all that at home? To prepare you, my precious girl, because the outside world is even more cruel than I could have ever been to you. All I can say is that you truly didn't disappoint me. Watching you navigate through all that, lie to save yourself, as much as killing to survive, I'm glad to say I've taught you the right survival skills after all."
It clicked. It finally clicked. How could I have been that blind? Surely his voice was distorted with some device, his face covered, but it all made sense. I stumbled backwards, trying my hardest to get away from him, as much as making me fall backwards. I continued to crawl back until I hit the door on the other side. "No... no, it can't be. After all I did to get away from you..." I stammered, watching him squat down to match my eye level. I watched him slowly remove his mask as the tears started flowing down uncontrollably.
"I'm proud to see my daughter is just as much of a maniac as me."
