Rei slowly stirred awake, the dull ache in her head reminding her of the ordeal she had just endured. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light of the room, she realised she was in an unfamiliar place. The sterile smell and the soft hum of medical equipment indicated she was in some sort of infirmary. She tried to sit up but winced at the sharp pain in her arm where the men had tried to inject her.
"Hey, take it easy," a gentle voice said from beside her. She turned her head to see Geto sitting by her bedside, his expression a mix of relief and concern.
"Where am I?" Rei asked, her voice hoarse.
"You're in the infirmary at Jujutsu High," Geto replied softly. "We brought you here after we found you."
Rei's mind raced, fragments of her recent trauma mixing with older, more distant memories. "Where's Y/N?" she asked, anxiety creeping into her voice.
Geto gave her a reassuring smile. "Y/N went out with Gojo to check on some things. They'll be back soon."
Rei nodded slowly, trying to process everything. She looked around the room, her eyes lingering on the medical equipment and the neatly arranged supplies. The room was small but clean, with a large window that let in the soft morning light. She felt a strange sense of familiarity and safety, as if she had been here before in another life.
"Thank you," she said quietly, meeting Geto's eyes. "For saving me."
Geto's smile widened, a hint of affection in his gaze. "I'm just glad we got to you in time."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the quiet hum of the infirmary providing a soothing backdrop. Rei's mind drifted back to the moments before she lost consciousness, the terror she felt, and the relief when Geto appeared. She realised how much she owed him and the others for risking their lives to save her.
After what felt like an eternity, the door to the infirmary opened, and Y/N entered with Gojo and Yaga in tow. Rei's heart lifted at the sight of her friends, and she managed a weak smile.
"Rei!" Y/N exclaimed, rushing to her side. "Thank goodness you're awake. How are you feeling?"
Rei nodded, her eyes shining with gratefulness. "Better, thanks to all of you."
Gojo and Yaga approached, their expressions serious but kind. Yaga took a seat at the foot of the bed, his gaze intent as he studied Rei.
"We need to talk about what happened," Yaga began, his tone gentle yet firm. "We need to understand who those men were and what they wanted."
