Sunghoon & Nari

As the bus rolled into Venice, the students buzzed with excitement. They had finally arrived. The picturesque canals and charming streets were a dream come true for many, including Moon Nari, who took a deep breath as she stepped off the bus.

Inside the hotel lobby, their teacher, Mr. Cho, pulled out his phone and began explaining some rules. "Alright, everyone, listen up! Boys and girls must be strictly separated. No exceptions."

Bora, Jake, and Sunghoon were giggling and whispering, clearly amused by Mr. Cho's strictness. The teacher noticed and called them out. "Bora, Jake, Sunghoon! Be quiet and pay attention."

"Yes, sir," they chorused, trying to stifle their laughter.

Mr. Cho continued, "I'll be reading out the pairs for the rooms. Please pay attention."

Moon Nari waited patiently for her name to be called, her heart pounding slightly. She overheard some girls nearby whispering, "I hope I don't get paired with Nari. She's such a bore."

"Yeah, she's way too perfect for her own good."

Nari frowned, feeling the familiar sting of exclusion. She lowered her gaze, trying to ignore the hurtful comments. Sunghoon, noticing her discomfort, walked up to her in a calm manner and put his arm around her. His touch was warm and gentle, sending a jolt of electricity through her.

"Hey, Nari, do you like swimming?" he asked, his voice warm and friendly.

She looked up at him, her heart racing at how close he was. "Yes, I do," she replied softly, trying to steady her breathing.

"Great! We're probably going to the pool tomorrow. You should join us," he said, his smile teasing. "Unless, of course, you're too busy studying underwater physics."

Nari blushed, feeling a mix of embarrassment and excitement. "I'll try to make time," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Sunghoon leaned in closer, his breath tickling her ear. "I hope so. I'd hate to miss the chance to see you in a swimsuit."

Her cheeks burned, and she bit her lip to keep from smiling too widely. The proximity of his body, the way his arm casually draped over her shoulders, made her feel both thrilled and nervous.

Before she could respond, Mr. Cho announced the room assignments. "Sunghoon and Jake in one room. Bora and Nari in another."

Bora immediately came over, putting her arm around Nari and grinning. "You ready, roomie?"

Nari smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Yeah, I am."

As she stepped away from Sunghoon, he leaned in and whispered, "Sweet dreams, Quark Nari. Don't stay up too late thinking about me."

She blushed even deeper, trying to hide her smile. "Good night, Sunghoon."

He gave her a wink. "Good night, Nari. See you in the morning."

Bora pulled Nari toward their room, chatting excitedly. "This is going to be so much fun! I've got a ton of snacks, and we can stay up all night talking."

Nari felt a surge of warmth and gratitude. "Thanks, Bora. I'm looking forward to it."

As they walked to their room, Nari couldn't help but reflect on the day's events. Sunghoon's kindness and teasing had lifted her spirits, making her feel included in a way she hadn't before. His touch had been both comforting and thrilling, leaving her with a sense of anticipation she hadn't expected.

The two girls entered their room, and Bora immediately started unpacking her things, chattering away. Nari noticed how effortlessly Bora filled the space with her energy, a stark contrast to her own shyness.

Bora glanced at Nari, who was quietly organizing her belongings. "You know, I'm really glad to be sharing the room with you and not those other weird girls from our class," she said with a grin.

Nari giggled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Same here. They can be a bit much."

Wanting to keep the conversation going, Nari mustered up some courage. "You, Jake, and Sunghoon seem like really good friends."

Bora nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, we are. We've been through a lot together."

"How did you all meet?" Nari asked, genuinely curious. "You seem so close."

Bora laughed, settling onto her bed. "It's actually a pretty funny story. We met in first grade. Sunghoon was this tiny kid with a big mouth, always getting into trouble. One day, during recess, he decided to climb a tree to impress everyone, but he got stuck. He was too scared to come down, and all the other kids were just laughing at him."

Nari giggled, picturing a young Sunghoon stuck in a tree. "What happened next?"

"Jake and I were the only ones who felt bad for him. So, Jake, being the little hero he always tries to be, climbed up to help him. But then, Jake got stuck too! It was a complete disaster," Bora recounted, laughing at the memory. "I ran to get a teacher, and eventually, they got down. After that, the three of us were inseparable."

Nari smiled, touched by the story. "That's such a sweet memory. You guys have been friends for so long."

"Yeah, we have," Bora said, her eyes softening. "We've had our ups and downs, but we always stick together. That's what makes it so special."

"It's kind of sad to think you'll all probably be separated after graduation," Nari mused.

Bora shook her head, her expression turning triumphant. "Actually, we won't be. All three of us were accepted into the same university, so we're sticking together for a while longer."

Nari's eyes widened in surprise. "That's amazing! I'm really happy for you guys."

"Thanks, Nari. It's going to be great. But you know, it's not just about sticking with old friends. This trip is about making new ones too," Bora said, giving her a meaningful look.

Nari felt a warm flutter in her chest. "I'd like that," she said softly.

Bora grinned. "Good, because we're going to make sure you have the best time. Tomorrow, we'll start with the pool, and you'll see just how fun we can be."

Nari laughed, feeling more comfortable than she had in a long time. As they settled into bed, the room filled with quiet conversation and shared excitement about the days ahead. Nari felt a sense of belonging starting to take root, and she drifted off to sleep with a smile, looking forward to the adventures yet to come.
